Full Job Description

Job Title: Experienced Caregiver – Weekend Availability Required

Pay: $18.00–$23.00 per hour
Location: Carlsbad, CA
Shifts: 4–12 hours | Weekdays and weekends | Immediate openings

FirstLight Home Care is hiring dependable, experienced caregivers to provide one-on-one care for seniors in Carlsbad and nearby communities.

We have shifts of different lengths available throughout the week. Weekend availability is required, but you do not need to be available every day or every weekend shift. Scheduling will be based on your availability and our clients’ needs.

Before You Apply

Please apply if you meet these requirements:

At least one year of professional caregiving experience
Available to work some weekend shifts
Able to work shifts ranging from 4–12 hours
Comfortable providing hands-on personal care
Experience supporting clients with dementia or Alzheimer’s disease
Reliable transportation to clients in Carlsbad and surrounding areas
Dependable, punctual, and responsive to the office

What You’ll Do

Depending on the client’s needs, responsibilities may include:

Bathing, showering, grooming, and dressing assistance
Toileting and incontinence care
Transfers and mobility assistance
Fall-prevention support
Meal preparation and medication reminders
Dementia care, redirection, and meaningful engagement
Companionship and encouragement of independence
Light housekeeping and laundry
Transportation to appointments and errands
Documenting care and reporting changes to the office

Qualifications

Minimum one year of professional caregiving experience
California Home Care Aide registration or willingness and ability to obtain it
Valid California driver’s license
Reliable vehicle with current auto insurance
Authorization to work in the United States
Ability to satisfy applicable background-check requirements

Experience with hospice care, Parkinson’s disease, behavioral health conditions, or clients at high risk for falls is a plus.

Physical Requirements

Caregivers must be able to perform the essential duties of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation, including:

Assisting with transfers and mobility
Standing, bending, kneeling, and squatting
Pushing wheelchairs and mobility equipment
Safely lifting or assisting with up to 25 pounds
Providing hands-on care during shifts lasting up to 12 hours
