Full Job Description

Position Summary

Parkway Endoscopy Center is seeking a Full-Time Registered Nurse (RN) to join our ambulatory GI/endoscopy team.

The Peri-Procedural RN provides nursing care throughout the patient’s procedural experience and will be trained to work across Pre-Op, Procedure, Moderate Sedation, and PACU/Recovery. Nurses are assigned to different clinical areas based on daily staffing, patient volume, competencies, and operational needs.

We are looking for an RN who is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, enjoys variety, and is willing to become competent in all areas of the center rather than remaining in one primary assignment.

Primary Responsibilities

Provide safe, patient-centered nursing care throughout the peri-procedural experience
Perform pre-procedure nursing assessments and prepare patients for GI/endoscopy procedures
Start and maintain peripheral IV access and administer medications within RN scope of practice
Review medical history, medications, allergies, and procedural readiness
Identify abnormal findings or changes in patient condition and appropriately communicate and escalate concerns
Assist physicians and the procedural team during endoscopic procedures
Provide and monitor moderate sedation after completion of required training and competency validation
Continuously assess patients during procedures and recognize changes in respiratory, cardiovascular, and neurological status
Provide post-anesthesia and post-sedation recovery care
Assess readiness for discharge and provide patient and caregiver education
Complete accurate and timely nursing documentation
Communicate effectively with physicians, anesthesia providers, nurses, technicians, and other members of the healthcare team
Assist with patient flow, room turnover, break coverage, and other clinical needs throughout the center
Follow infection-prevention, medication-safety, and ambulatory surgery center policies and procedures
Respond appropriately to emergencies and participate in emergency preparedness activities
Float between Pre-Op, Procedure, Moderate Sedation, and PACU/Recovery according to daily staffing and patient-care needs

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a dependable, adaptable RN who enjoys working as part of a collaborative procedural team. They are comfortable changing assignments based on the needs of the center, communicate effectively when patient-care concerns arise, and recognize when a change in patient condition requires intervention or escalation.

We especially value nurses who are willing to learn, support their coworkers, and contribute wherever needed rather than viewing themselves as belonging to only one clinical area. GI/endoscopy experience is preferred but not required for the right candidate.

Cross-Training & Floating Expectations

This is a cross-functional peri-procedural nursing position. Full-time RNs are expected to develop and maintain competency throughout the clinical areas of the center.

Assignments may vary from day to day. An RN may be assigned to Pre-Op, Procedure, Moderate Sedation, PACU/Recovery, or provide float and break coverage depending on staffing and patient volume.

Applicants should be comfortable with this level of flexibility and willing to learn areas in which they do not already have experience. Appropriate orientation and training will be provided before independent assignment to a new clinical area.

Qualifications

Required:

Current California Registered Nurse (RN) license
Current AHA BLS certification
Current AHA ACLS certification

Effective communication, organization, and prioritization skills
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced procedural environment
Willingness to cross-train and work throughout all clinical areas of the center

Preferred:

Previous GI/endoscopy experience
Ambulatory surgery center experience
Pre-Op and/or PACU experience
Procedural nursing experience
Moderate sedation experience

Pay: $48.00 - $52.00 per hour
