Duties

Audit retrospectively for accuracy of diagnosis, evaluation and management, procedure codes and documentation.
Analyze the patient medical records to identify inaccurately coded services in accordance with federal coding regulations and guidelines.
Collaborate with the coding manager and Patient Administration Department Head, plans, schedules, and performs encounter audits to monitor performance and ensure lasting improvement.
Prepare reports of findings and recommends staff education and training on accurate coding practices and compliance issues to maintain coding accuracy.
Interact closely with physicians and other health care providers to ensure compliance with documentation requirements and to improve quality in the clinical coding process.
Provide monthly performance and progress reports addressing all task area activities and levels of accomplishment to Coding Manger and Patient Administration Department Head
Develop programs and plans for orienting and training medical and ancillary services staff in basic coding techniques and requirements
Review and code medical records. Perform diagnosis and procedure coding. Assign CPT procedure codes

Work Schedule The positions require rotating shifts, meaning employees may work mornings, evenings, nights, weekends, overtime, or holidays depending on operational needs. This is common in 24/7 medical environments.
This position is requires on-call.
This position has been designated "Mission Essential".
In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations (natural or man-made disaster) the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes, managing medical records and reviewing medical coding such as, International Classification of Diseases (ICD- latest version), American Medical Association Current Procedural. Terminology (CPT) codes, Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS), Current Dental Terminology (CDT) codes, Diagnostic Related Groups (DRG's), or other code taxonomies.
