About the Role:

The Tool and Die Machinist plays a critical role at Turbine Standard by designing, fabricating, and maintaining precision tools, dies, and molds used in the repair and overhaul processes. This position ensures that all tooling components meet exact specifications to facilitate efficient production and maintain high-quality standards. The machinist will work closely with engineering and repair teams to troubleshoot and optimize tooling performance, minimizing downtime and enhancing operational efficiency. Attention to detail and a deep understanding of machining techniques are essential to produce durable and accurate tools that support the manufacturing of aviation equipment and related components. Ultimately, this role contributes directly to the reliability and safety of aviation engines by ensuring tooling integrity and precision throughout the repair lifecycle.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent.
Completion of an accredited apprenticeship program or equivalent experience in tool and die making.
Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and blueprints.
Experience operating manual and CNC machine tools.
Strong knowledge of machining processes, materials, and tooling techniques.

Preferred Qualifications:

Certification from a recognized tool and die or machining organization.
Experience working in aviation or manufacturing sectors.
Familiarity with CAD/CAM software for tool design and programming.
Ability to perform precision measurements using micrometers, calipers, and other metrology tools.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Responsibilities:

Set up and operate a variety of machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, and CNC equipment to fabricate and repair tools, dies, and fixtures.
Interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications to produce precise tooling components.
Perform routine maintenance and adjustments on tools and dies to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
Collaborate with engineers and production staff to identify tooling issues and implement effective solutions.
Conduct quality inspections and measurements using precision instruments to verify conformance to specifications.
Maintain accurate records of work performed, including tooling modifications and repairs.
Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
