Full Job Description

Medical Associates of Erie is currently seeking a full time Front Desk Receptionist for a busy Physician Practice.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Check voicemail line in the morning and retrieve messages

Welcomes and greets all patients and visitors

Answers phone while maintaining a polite, consistent phone manner using proper telephone etiquette

Schedule patient appointments, make reminder calls, call patients who missed their appointments (no shows)

Responsible for keeping the reception area clean and organized

Facilitates patient flow by notifying physician of patients’ arrival and communicating with patients and clinical staff of unforeseen service delays

”Check in” patients as they arrive in a courteous manner. Responds to patient inquires in a professional and respectful manner.

Registers new patients and updates existing patient demographics by collecting detailed patient information

Verifies patient’s address, phone, insurance and email address each visit

Collection of patient balances for services provided (co-pay, prior balances etc)

Copy insurance cards

Verify patient insurance eligibility prior to patient appointments

Reconcile daily payments at the end of the day

Protects patient confidentiality by making sure PHI is secured; not leaving PHI in plain sight of patients/visitors and logging off computer before leaving it unattended

All other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED

Skills/Knowledge:

High School or GED
Previous experience in an office setting
Knowledge of clinical procedures and medical terminology
Basic word, excel
Telephone etiquette/customer service skills
Previous scheduling experience using an electronic scheduling system/electronic health record preferred
Basic computer skills
