About Aluminess & MGP

Aluminess and MGP Caliper Covers are part of the Bestop Premium Accessories Group, based in Santee, CA. Aluminess has built a reputation since 2001 for American-made aluminum bumpers, roof racks, and accessories engineered for off-road and overlanding vehicles. MGP, founded in 2008 as the inventor of the caliper cover, is known for precision CNC-machined, OEM-licensed caliper covers trusted by DIYers and professional installers alike. Together, the two brands share a Santee facility and a commitment to quality, craftsmanship, and customer service.

About the Role

You will serve as the HR Manager for both Aluminess and MGP, owning the HR function for our Santee site. You'll partner directly with the General Manager and management team to build and run the HR programs and policies that support our manufacturing operations, from payroll and benefits to safety and employee relations.

This is a hands-on HR Manager seat with real ownership and real autonomy: you'll manage end-to-end ADP payroll processing, administer workers' compensation and benefits, lead the recruitment and selection process, and drive EHS compliance initiatives. You'll be the on-site HR lead for both brands, so this role suits someone who's comfortable owning outcomes and making sound HR judgment calls day to day.

What You'll Do:

Lead HR strategy for Aluminess and MGP, aligning programs with overall business goals.
Manage end-to-end ADP payroll processing, ensuring accurate and timely pay in compliance with federal, state, and California-specific regulations.
Administer workers' compensation insurance and employee benefits programs.
Own the full recruitment and selection process for open roles at both brands, from requisition through offer.
Drive employee development, engagement, motivation, and retention across the site.
Lead team-building activities, company events, and other employee relations initiatives.
Maintain strict confidentiality across personnel files, HR discussions, payroll, and investigations.
Own the performance appraisal system and drive high performance across the team.
Ensure legal compliance throughout all human resource management practices.
Lead EHS (Environmental Health & Safety) compliance initiatives, safety programs, environmental reporting, and employee training.
Serve as the primary HR advisor to the General Manager and management team on all people matters.

What You'll Need (Must Have)

5+ years of Human Resources experience, ideally including time as the primary HR contact for a site or business unit.
2+ years of hands-on payroll administration experience, including ADP.
Proven HR experience within a manufacturing or distribution, fast-paced environment.
Strong knowledge of California labor law, FMLA, and California-specific pay practices.
Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations.
Proficiency with HRIS systems such as NetSuite and ADP Workforce Now.
Strong written and verbal communication skills across all levels of the organization.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Currently located in or able to reliably commute to Santee, CA.
Authorized to work in the United States now and in the future without employer sponsorship.

Bonus Points (Nice to Have)

Bachelor's degree, preferably in Human Resource Management.
SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP).
Prior experience as a standalone HR Manager at a manufacturing site.
Experience leading EHS programs specifically, beyond general safety compliance.

Work Environment

Onsite role at our Santee, CA facility.
Manufacturing/distribution environment with regular interaction across production, management, and administrative teams.
Standard business hours with occasional flexibility for employee relations matters, investigations, or safety incidents.
