Job Description and Duties

PARK MAINTENANCE WORKER I - NORTH COAST REDWOODS DISTRICT / EEL RIVER SECTOR / RICHARDSON GROVE STATE PARK

This classification is subject to the Post and Bid process. Applications from a certification list, transfer change in class, reinstatement, re-employment, and training and development assignment candidates will be accepted for this position but consistent with the MOU/Bargaining Agreement BU12/13 contract cannot be acted upon unless the Post & Bid process does not result in a hire.

This position performs skilled and semi-skilled maintenance, repair, and construction work on a wide range of park facilities including buildings, restrooms, utility systems, roads, trails, campgrounds, and historic structures. The incumbent will primarily work at 1600 US Hwy 101, Garberville, CA 95542 with occasional assignments throughout the Eel River Sector and North Coast Redwoods District as needed. The position works collaboratively with other Park Maintenance Workers, Skilled Laborers, Park Maintenance Assistants, and Laborers to support district maintenance operations.

The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment.

Possession of a valid Class C driver’s license is required. You must answer the questions addressing your driver’s license on your application. Ensure you provide your driver’s license number, class, expiration date, and any endorsements and/or restrictions on your application.

The incumbent's work schedule will be Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Per California Code of Regulations (CCR) 599.961, this is a sensitive position, and therefore subject to drug and alcohol testing. It should be noted that testing is not mandatory, but is allowed to be conducted only if and when there is a determination of reasonable suspicion as defined in CCR 599.962.

This position is designated as not telework eligible.

Special Requirement/Condition of Employment: Depending on the assigned location, the incumbent may be required to occupy state-owned housing to meet operational needs, or may be offered state-owned housing if available.
