Server | Front of House — Guest Experience Host
ROOSTER Opening Team | Edmonds, WA
$18–$21/hour + Team Tips + Medical, Dental & Vision
ROOSTER is new.
We’re building a bagel cafe, kitchen and bar—and the team and culture that will bring it to life—from the beginning.
We’re looking for people who want more than a shift and a paycheck. People who take pride in being really good at what they do, enjoy being part of a strong team and want their ideas and contributions to matter.
You don’t have to come from a traditional restaurant background—but you do need to care about people.
If you’re observant, self-directed, generous with your teammates and naturally find yourself thinking, “What does this guest need next?” we’d like to meet you.
The Role
ROOSTER combines the ease of counter service with the care of a great neighborhood restaurant.
Guests place their first order at the counter, then settle in.
From there, you take care of them much like a great server would.
You’ll have a section and be accountable for the guests within it—checking in, reading the table, making recommendations, taking additional food and beverage orders tableside, clearing along the way and making sure your guests feel genuinely cared for throughout their visit.
Counter-Initiated. Tableside-Hosted. Team-Supported.
You own your section.
You just don’t work it alone.
If another Host sees that one of your guests needs something, they help. If you pass through another section and see something that needs attention, you handle it. When the room gets busy, we communicate and support one another.
Own your section. Support the room. Hospitality belongs to everyone.
The ease of counter service. The care of full service.
And you won’t hear much “that’s not my table” around here.
Who We’re Looking For
- If you’ve been a great server, host, bartender, barista or cafe professional, much of this will feel familiar.
- But restaurant experience isn’t the only way to learn exceptional hospitality.
- We’d also love to meet people with strong experience in customer service, retail, specialty retail, hotels, sales, tasting rooms or other guest-facing businesses.
- What matters most is how you work.
- We’re looking for people who notice.
- You notice the guest at the door before they have to figure out where to go.
- You notice when your table is ready for another round.
- You notice when someone could use a great recommendation.
- You notice when something doesn’t feel quite right.
- And when you notice something, you do something about it.
- You ask good questions. You learn quickly. You can read people and priorities. You know when to take initiative and when to ask for help.
- You don’t need someone standing over your shoulder telling you what comes next.
- Hospitality + Sales
- We think great hospitality and great sales belong together.
- Not scripted upselling. Not pressure.
- Pay attention. Know the menu. Make a great recommendation.
- Maybe that means another cocktail, something for the table to share, an additional plate, coffee or something sweet.
- We want Hosts who enjoy selling when selling means helping someone discover something they’ll genuinely enjoy.
- Great recommendations make the experience better.
- Great hospitality drives great sales.
- Eligible team members participate in ROOSTER’s shared tip pool. We succeed as a team, and we share that success as a team.
You’ll Thrive Here If You...
- Genuinely enjoy taking care of people
- Notice what needs to happen without waiting to be told
- Can read a guest and know when to engage—and when to give them space
- Are comfortable making confident, thoughtful recommendations
- Take ownership without becoming territorial
- Stay calm, organized and useful when things get busy
- Have good judgment and communicate clearly
- Are curious, coachable and willing to change your mind when there’s a better way
- Take responsibility when you make a mistake and learn from it
- Are someone your teammates know they can count on
Opening a new restaurant also requires adaptability.
We’ll have clear standards and expectations, but we’ll also learn once we’re operating. We want people who can adjust, ask smart questions, offer thoughtful ideas and help us make ROOSTER better as we grow.
What You’ll Do
- Welcome guests and help them understand the ROOSTER experience
- Take accurate initial orders, open tabs and process payments at the counter
- Own an assigned dining-room section and actively care for the guests within it
- Learn our bagel, food, coffee, cocktail and beverage menus well enough to guide guests confidently
- Check in naturally, anticipate needs and take additional orders tableside using a handheld
- Build guest checks through genuine recommendations and strong menu knowledge
- Deliver food and drinks and clear finished items as part of the service team
- Keep your section and guest-facing spaces clean, organized and ready
- Communicate closely with baristas, bartenders, Expo, Kitchen and fellow Hosts
- Notice guest concerns early and help make things right
- Support the room when another guest or teammate needs help
- Complete opening, side-work and closing responsibilities
Your primary assignment may vary by shift. You may work a dining-room section, the counter, arrival/door or service support based on the needs of the restaurant.
Whatever the assignment, you’ll know what you own and what matters most.
What You Can Expect From Us
We expect a lot from our team.
You should expect a lot from us too.
Paid training.
We’ll train you on the ROOSTER menu, service model, Toast POS and handhelds before expecting you to independently own a section.
Schedules you can actually plan around.
We’ll publish schedules at least 14 days in advance. We know you have a life outside of work, and we believe predictability matters.
We’ll make a good-faith effort to accommodate advance time-off requests while balancing the needs of the restaurant and the team. Time-off requests are not guaranteed, so the more notice you can give us, the better chance we have of making it work.
Clear direction.
You’ll know your assignment, your priorities and who is leading the shift.
Real feedback.
We believe people deserve to know what they’re doing well, what needs work and how they can grow.
Quarterly performance + compensation reviews.
We’ll have regular conversations about your performance, development and compensation. Compensation changes are not automatic or guaranteed.
Annual bonus eligibility.
Eligible team members may earn an annual performance bonus based on individual and company performance.
Medical, Dental & Vision.
Available to eligible team members in accordance with ROOSTER’s benefit plans.
Paid sick leave.
Provided in accordance with Washington law and ROOSTER policy.
Cross-training + growth.
As your skills and interests develop, there will be opportunities to learn additional FOH specialties and take on greater responsibility.
And because we’re building ROOSTER from the beginning, good ideas don’t have to come from the person with the biggest title.
The ROOSTER Way
We’re kind without being flimsy, fast without becoming frantic and professional without feeling fake.
Make Different Mistakes.
Try things. Learn. Grow. We don’t expect perfection—we expect progress.
Get Better Every Day.
Curiosity beats ego.
Be Good to One Another.
Communicate directly. Assume positive intent. Have each other’s backs.
Do the Right Thing.
Follow through and make the good call even when nobody is watching.
We work hard. We hold high standards. We also want this to be a place where good people actually enjoy coming to work.
Skills can be taught. Caring can’t.
