Overview

Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Phlebotomist/Lab Assistant, where you will play a vital role in supporting patient care and laboratory operations. This energetic position involves collecting blood samples, preparing specimens for testing, and assisting with various laboratory procedures. You will work closely with medical professionals to ensure accurate specimen handling and deliver exceptional patient service in a fast-paced environment. Duties

Perform capillary blood collection using aseptic techniques to ensure patient safety and specimen integrity
Prepare, label, and process specimens accurately for laboratory testing in accordance with established protocols
Assist laboratory staff with routine procedures, including specimen handling, processing, and storage
Provide compassionate patient care by explaining procedures, ensuring comfort, and maintaining a professional demeanor
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the lab workspace, adhering to safety standards such as proper disposal of biohazard materials
Support laboratory operations by entering data precisely, managing inventory of supplies, and assisting with equipment calibration when needed

Experience

Previous experience in medical laboratory work or clinical settings is highly preferred
Knowledge of laboratory procedures, techniques, and specimen collection methods such as venipuncture and blood sampling
Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems for data entry and patient record management
Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology—especially related to geriatrics and pediatrics—enhances your effectiveness in this role
Experience working in hospital or healthcare environments demonstrates your ability to handle high-pressure situations professionally
Ability to lift heavy objects safely when handling specimens or supplies is essential for maintaining safety standards
