Full Job Description

Job Title: Education Coordinator, Contract (3 - 6 months)

Department: Early Learning Academy

Supervisor: Director of Early Learning

Employment Status: Full-time, Contract

The Whitefoord Early Learning Academy (WELA) Education Coordinator provides support and coordination for planning, implementation, and assessment of curriculum/instructional initiatives related to improvements in early learning, including infant to Pre-Kindergarten. The successful candidate must also be knowledgeable about DECAL, NAEYC, Quality Rated, and best practices in the field of early education through experience in applying and teaching others to apply the quality standards. The Education Coordinator must be knowledgeable in GA Pre-K regulations, practices and requirements. He/she ensures compliance with all State and Federal Laws, State Department of Education Rules and Regulations. He/She must demonstrate a wide degree of creativity, time management, and latitude to oversee classroom/program initiatives. The Education Coordinator co-manages responsibilities with a 2nd Education Coordinator and reports to the Director of Early Learning, assists in special projects as needed.

Areas of Responsibility

· Ability to model and teach appropriate interactions with children to support their social emotional development including but not limited to supporting children with challenging behavior.

· Provides support lead teachers and assistant teachers to include coaching, mentoring, and classroom coverage as needed.

· Ensures daily communication via Procare, in-person or email while demonstrating professional work standards supportive of Whitefoord’s mission/objectives.

· Support teachers in creating and implementing lesson plans based on developmentally appropriate practice to include ensuring necessary supplies and the plans are implemented weekly.

· Supports teachers in implementation of best practice as determined by NAEYC, QR, and DECAL.

· Collaborates with teachers in creating/implementing lesson plans based on developmentally appropriate practice, including the review and approval of weekly lesson curriculum.

· Coordinates and participate in the planning and organization of the annual parent orientations.

· Function as a member of the WELA leadership team representing the program in a professional manner at all times in a variety of settings

· Coordinates with teachers to ensure weekly equipment/supply resources are intact to cover classroom needs.

· Co-manages day-to-day program operations to include creating a schedule to maintain NAEYC recommended ratios, classroom backup, and daily supervision in the classrooms; to also include making daily rounds to each classroom in am and pm.

· Functions as point of contact and engage with heighten sense of awareness/clarity of communication with administrators, teachers, children, and parents and assist with dispute resolution regarding parent/program concerns.

· Coordinates WELA classroom transitions and develop ongoing parent orientation measures. Conduct parent/teacher introductions.

· Co-manages the enrollment process from sign up to the first day of enrollment

· Spends at least 10 hours weekly in the classroom, observing, assisting, or filling in

· Develops and maintains appropriate record keeping system

· Ensures resolution compliance measures with Bright from the Start, DECAL, and GA Pre-K.

· Ensures safety protocols and staff training regarding interior/exterior building/equipment concerns/updates.

· Oversees compliance of daily WELA sign in/out procedures and maintains adequate records

· Ensures that classrooms are appropriately shelfed and organized according to standards.

· Assists in conducting training for the teachers on proper procedure and protocols

· Collaborates with the Director of Early Learning on administration of Brigance Developmental Assessment.

· Develops and maintains custom reports as requested by the Director of Early Learning

Skills and Qualifications

· BA in Early Education, Administration, Human Services or a related area from a regionally accredited university.

· 1 or more years of successful supervisory experience in an early education setting, coaching and mentoring teachers to improve performance.

· 3 or more years teaching in the field of early education.

· Knowledge of current research, experience with early learning remedial/intervention strategies, and early learning effective practices.

· Experience with procedural guidelines related to Bright from the Start and Head Start requirements; knowledge and experience working with the Georgia Early Learning & Development Standards, current Georgia Standards, curriculum trends, knowledge of current applicable laws, codes, regulations, policies and procedures.

· Experience with school district organization, operations, policies, and procedures; the ability to read, interpret, apply, and explain rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.

· Knowledge and experience with principles and practices of effective supervision and personnel management. Ability and skills in the operation of a computer and related software.

· Knowledge and ability supporting site-based administrators and staff; ability to liaison with other early learning providers, agencies, and organizations. Experience in performing coaching and mentoring.

· Experience working in a diverse community- based setting.

· Results driven and detailed oriented with passion for learning

· Excellent written and verbal communication

· Proficient at record keeping and reporting

· Proficient at MS Office

· Skilled at working with multi-disciplinary teams and competent in working with diverse customer groups

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Must possess above average command of speaking and writing skills.

REASONING ABILITY: Must be able to exercise sound judgment and concrete thinking when on the spot decision making is required. Ability to seek supervision for emergencies and unusual circumstances. Must be able to participate in regularly scheduled meetings.
