Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Manual Machinist to join our manufacturing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating and setting up manual machining equipment to produce precision metal components in accordance with technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to high-quality production processes through expert craftsmanship, mechanical knowledge, and meticulous measurement techniques. The ideal applicant will demonstrate proficiency in manual machining operations, blueprint interpretation, and mechanical assembly, ensuring that all parts meet strict quality standards.

Duties

Operate manual machining tools such as lathes, grinders, and milling machines to produce precise metal parts.
Interpret mechanical blueprints and technical drawings accurately to determine machining requirements.
Set up and calibrate machinery including lathe and grinder equipment for various projects.
Use precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM) to verify dimensions and ensure quality control.
Perform routine machine maintenance, tool changes, and adjustments to optimize performance.
Read and interpret engineering drawings with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) specifications.
Assist in the assembly process by machining components to exact specifications.
Maintain a clean and organized work environment adhering to safety standards.
Support continuous improvement initiatives such as lean manufacturing practices.
Collaborate with engineering teams on tooling setup, CNC programming support, and quality inspections.

Experience

Proven experience as a Manual Machinist or in a similar role within a manufacturing environment.
Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to interpret mechanical blueprints and technical drawings.
Proficiency with machining tools including lathes, grinders, mills, and hand tools.
Familiarity with CNC machining concepts such as CNC G-code programming, CNC lathe operations, and CNC milling is advantageous.
Experience using measurement tools like micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines for quality control.
Knowledge of M-code programming for machine control is preferred.
Ability to perform basic math calculations related to measurements and tolerances accurately.
Understanding of safety procedures related to metalworking equipment and power tools.
Basic familiarity with CAD software such as SolidWorks or CAD programs for interpreting design models is a plus.
Mechanical aptitude combined with attention to detail ensures precision in manufacturing processes.
