HUG is a leader in modern HIV care, including the use of long-acting injectable medications for both HIV prevention and treatment. We are seeking an experienced and dependable Registered Nurse (RN) Injector Nurse to support our growing injectable medication program.

Position Summary

Healthcare Unity Group is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse Injector Nurse to administer prescribed injectable medications and provide focused nursing services to patients receiving HIV prevention, HIV treatment, and STI care.

The Injector Nurse will primarily administer Yeztugo® (lenacapavir), Apretude® (cabotegravir), Cabenuva® (cabotegravir/rilpivirine), and ceftriaxone, as ordered by HUG medical providers.

This position is ideal for an RN who is highly organized, comfortable administering IM and subcutaneous medications, and able to independently manage a scheduled injection workflow while maintaining excellent patient care and documentation.

This is a 1099 independent contractor position and does not include employee benefits.

Key Responsibilities

Administer prescribed injectable medications, including:
Yeztugo® (lenacapavir) for HIV prevention
Apretude® (cabotegravir) for HIV prevention
Cabenuva® (cabotegravir/rilpivirine) for HIV treatment
Ceftriaxone for treatment of indicated sexually transmitted infections
Obtain and document patient vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, respiratory rate, weight, and other measurements as clinically appropriate.
Verify provider orders, patient identity, medication, dose, route, and timing prior to administration.
Review relevant clinical information and confirm patients meet established requirements for medication administration.
Follow appropriate medication preparation, storage, handling, administration, and infection-control procedures.
Monitor patients for immediate adverse reactions and respond appropriately to clinical concerns.
Provide patient education regarding injectable medications, expected side effects, injection schedules, and the importance of maintaining scheduled doses.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR), including medication administration and required clinical information.
Communicate missed, delayed, or rescheduled injections to the appropriate clinical team members.
Coordinate with providers and clinical staff regarding patient questions, abnormal vital signs, medication concerns, or other issues requiring provider evaluation.
Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and organizational standards.
Help maintain an efficient, welcoming, respectful, and patient-centered injection experience.

Qualifications

Active New Jersey Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
Current BLS/CPR certification.
Experience administering intramuscular and subcutaneous injections.
Strong medication administration and patient assessment skills.
Comfortable obtaining and documenting vital signs.
Experience with electronic medical records and clinical documentation.
Ability to work independently and efficiently within established clinical protocols.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Strong interpersonal and patient education skills.
Dependable and able to maintain scheduled clinic coverage.
Commitment to providing compassionate, inclusive, and nonjudgmental care.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in HIV treatment, HIV prevention, infectious disease, sexual health, or community health.
Experience administering long-acting injectable medications such as Cabenuva or Apretude.
Familiarity with PrEP, HIV treatment, and STI treatment.
Experience working with LGBTQ+ and other historically underserved communities.
Spanish language proficiency is a plus.
Telemedicine or hybrid-care experience is a plus.

Independent Contractor Status

This position is structured as a 1099 independent contractor opportunity. The contractor is responsible for applicable taxes, insurance, professional expenses, and other obligations associated with independent contractor status.

This position does not include employee benefits, including health insurance, paid time off, retirement benefits, or other benefits provided to W-2 employees.
