Full Job Description

Job Summary

Seeking an Entry-Level CNC Lathe Setup Machinist that can learn how to set up, operate, and monitor CNC lathe equipment to produce precision parts according to work instructions, drawings, and quality standards. This position is designed for candidates with strong mechanical aptitude, a willingness to learn, and good attention to detail. No prior CNC machining experience is required; hands-on training will be provided.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Learn to set up and operate CNC lathe machines.
Load and unload parts, materials, and tooling as directed.
Follow job travelers, setup sheets, work instructions, and basic production schedules.
Use basic measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges after training.
Perform first-piece and in-process inspections under supervision to ensure parts meet quality requirements.
Make basic machine adjustments and offset changes as trained.
Monitor machine operation and report issues, alarms, tool wear, or quality concerns to a supervisor or experienced machinist.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
Assist with routine machine care, chip removal, tooling changes, and housekeeping duties.

Qualifications

No previous CNC machining experience required.
Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, decimals, and fractions.
Ability to read, follow, and understand written work instructions.
Mechanical aptitude and interest in manufacturing or machining.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
Dependable attendance and willingness to learn through hands-on training.
Ability to work independently after training and as part of a team.
Comfort working around machinery, tools, metal parts, cutting fluids, and shop noise.

Training Provided

The company will provide training in CNC lathe machine operation, setup basics, measuring tools, blueprint and print reading fundamentals, tooling identification, quality inspection practices, and standard shop procedures. New employees will work closely with experienced machinists, leads, or supervisors while developing the skills needed to perform setups and operate machines with increasing independence.

Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour
