Full Job Description

Job Title: Cook (Temporary / On-Call)

Job Overview:

LGC Hospitality Staffing is hiring dependable Cooks to support colleges, K-12 schools, and event-based food service operations. This is a temporary, on-call position ideal for individuals with commercial kitchen experience who can prepare quality meals while working efficiently in fast-paced environments.

You will prepare and cook menu items, maintain food quality standards, and support kitchen operations while representing LGC at client locations.

Responsibilities:

Prepare and cook meals according to recipes, production sheets, and client specifications
Operate grills, ovens, fryers, steamers, and other commercial kitchen equipment safely
Ensure food is prepared, portioned, and presented according to quality standards
Monitor food temperatures and follow all food safety and sanitation procedures
Assist with prepping ingredients and maintaining organized workstations
Restock food items, ingredients, and kitchen supplies throughout the shift
Maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen, equipment, and prep areas
Assist with setup, service, and breakdown of meal periods or catered events
Communicate effectively with chefs, supervisors, and kitchen staff
Arrive on time, in proper uniform, and ready to work

Work Environments:

Colleges and universities (dining halls, campus events)
K-12 schools (cafeterias and meal programs)
Event venues and catering operations

Requirements:

Previous commercial cooking or kitchen experience required
Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and proper food handling procedures
Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs
Ability to work efficiently in high-volume kitchen environments
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow recipes and production schedules
Reliable transportation to various job sites
Flexible schedule (early mornings, daytime shifts, some evenings/weekends)
Professional appearance and dependable attendance
