Position Summary:

LION Charter School seeks a Director of School Culture. This position will foster a caring, supportive, and inclusive school community while upholding high behavioral expectations for students, staff, and families. This leader ensures fidelity to the school’s six pillars, adherence to policies and protocols, and consistent implementation of the student culture rubric. Working in close collaboration with the Director of Student Support, Director of Family Engagement, School Counselors, and the Director of Student & Family Support, the Director of School Culture plays a central role in promoting equity, strengthening school climate, and ensuring holistic student success.

Core Responsibilities & Essential Duties (included but not limited to):

Promote an equitable, anti-biased, anti-racist, and culturally responsive school environment aligned with the school’s mission and six pillars.
Facilitate School meetings and all school assemblies
Oversee the logistical planning of afternoon enrichment programming such as clubs and athletics
Develop and maintain a structured school environment by reinforcing expectations for arrival, dismissal, lunch, recess, and hallway transitions.
Coach and support staff on student culture, behavior response, and family engagement using clear, measurable goals.
Communicate and uphold explicit behavioral expectations through logical, reflective, and restorative consequences.
Plan and implement student orientation programs that introduce expectations and build community.
Design and facilitate professional development focused on student culture, climate, restorative practices, and equity.
Assess school culture and climate regularly using attendance data, surveys, observations, and stakeholder feedback.
Serve as the primary responder for behavioral crises and ongoing student behavior concerns.
Collaborate with the Student Support Team to develop, implement, and monitor individual behavior plans.
Maintain accurate documentation of discipline, mediation, communication, and observations to inform decisions.
Circulate throughout classrooms and common areas to reinforce expectations and monitor fidelity to procedures.
Build strong family partnerships through communication, conferences, home visits, and participation in family engagement events.
Serve as the division’s DASA and Title IX Coordinator by investigating and responding to all applicable reports.
Ensure completion of incident reports and proper documentation including suspension letters and PowerSchool logs.
Supervise, coach, and evaluate the Dean of Students and Assistant Dean to ensure alignment with school culture goals.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

Experience supporting students’ social-emotional development through restorative practices.
Ability to build trusting relationships with students, families, and staff.
Experience working with diverse student populations and communities.
Commitment to continuous improvement and professional learning.
Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced school environment.
High professional standards and strong follow-through.
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
Proficiency with Google applications and student data systems.

Preferred Experience:

Prior leadership experience in school culture, student support, or behavior intervention.
Experience designing or implementing restorative practices.
Background in crisis intervention, conflict resolution, or mediation.
Experience analyzing school culture data (attendance, surveys, discipline trends).
Experience coaching or supervising staff.

All compensation is aligned with our LION pay scale. Salary is commensurate with experience, education, and certification ( Teacher positions only ). While the posted range reflects the anticipated compensation, the exact compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors, including qualifications and internal equity.
