Task Force ManagerDepartment: Hotel Operations
Reports To: Vice President of Hotel Operations
Status: Exempt

Position Summary

Our two most recent Task Force Managers have been promoted to General Manager positions within First Bristol Corporation. This position provides significant exposure to company leadership and strong potential for continued career growth.

The Task Force Manager provides temporary leadership and operational support to assigned hotels throughout First Bristol Corporation’s Massachusetts and Rhode Island portfolio. Assignments may include serving as an acting/interim department head, manager on duty, or standard shift coverage in all hotel departments.

The Task Force Manager oversees all aspects of hotel operations, including guest services, front office, housekeeping, maintenance, sales, financial performance, team development, brand compliance, and SOPs.

The successful candidate must be a hands-on, adaptable leader who can quickly assess an operation, establish priorities, build relationships with hotel teams, and produce measurable results. Strong written and verbal communication, organization, delegation, and decision-making skills are essential.

Essential Functions

Provide leadership and operational oversight at assigned hotels throughout the company’s Massachusetts and Rhode Island portfolio.
Oversee hotel departments, including Front Office, Housekeeping, Maintenance, Food and Beverage, and Sales, as applicable.
Direct department scheduling, staffing, communication, meetings, and daily operational execution.
Covering Front Desk, Housekeeping, Maintenance, and/or Food & Beverage shifts as required.
Maintain a visible, hands-on leadership presence throughout the hotel.
Provide superior guest service and work to improve guest satisfaction results measured through brand surveys and online review platforms.
Investigate guest and associate concerns and initiate appropriate corrective action when necessary.
Ensure proper follow-through on operational issues, guest concerns, discrepancies, and service-recovery matters.
Maintain hotel product and service standards through regular inspections and ongoing evaluation.
Coordinate special guest programs, amenities, group arrangements, and events between applicable hotel departments to ensure successful execution.
Ensure department leaders and associates are properly trained, coached, supported, and held accountable.
Conduct regular management and staff meetings.
Promote effective open-door communication across all departments and support a positive workplace culture.
Assist with employee relations, performance management, training, development, wage administration, and compliance with applicable employment laws and company policies.
Approve hotel payroll and review departmental schedules for accuracy and appropriate staffing levels.
Manage labor and controllable expenses based on occupancy, revenue performance, and operational demand.
Assist with the preparation and management of hotel operating budgets, forecasts, and financial objectives.
Review hotel financial performance and identify opportunities to improve revenue, profitability, productivity, and cost control.
Prepare weekly and monthly operational and financial reports as directed by the Vice President of Hotel Operations.
Clearly explain hotel performance, trends, risks, and financial variances to company leadership and ownership.
Oversee accounts payable and ensure required financial procedures are followed.
Participate in weekly Revenue Management calls.
Work with Revenue Management, Sales, and hotel leadership to support occupancy, rate, market share, and total revenue objectives.
Ensure completion of required company and brand training programs.
Ensure compliance with the First Bristol Corporation Standard Operating Procedures Manual, Employee Handbook, brand standards, safety procedures, and applicable laws and regulations.
Uphold hotel key-control, cash-control, purchasing, and departmental expense-management standards.
Maintain knowledge of the hotel’s property-management system and other applicable brand and financial systems.
Support special projects, promotions, renovations, openings, transitions, and operational improvement plans.
Communicate professionally and respectfully with guests, associates, clients, vendors, union representatives, government officials, and members of the public.
Serve as Manager on Duty when required.
Perform other duties as assigned based on the needs of the hotel and company.

Education and Experience

2 years of hospitality management preferred.
Equivalent education, training, and relevant hotel management experience will be considered.
Experience supervising managers, supervisors, or multiple hotel departments strongly preferred.
At least 3 years of customer service experience is required.

Skills and Capabilities

Strong hotel operational knowledge.
Demonstrated leadership, coaching, delegation, and team-development skills.
Ability to quickly evaluate hotel operations and establish appropriate priorities.
Ability to lead effectively during management transitions and unfamiliar operating environments.
Strong written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
Sound judgment and the ability to make decisions with significant operational, financial, employee-relations, or legal implications.
Strong organizational, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
Working knowledge of hotel property-management, financial, payroll, revenue-management, and brand systems.
Bilingual capabilities preferred.
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Depending on the assignment, the Task Force Manager may directly supervise hotel managers and department leaders and may assume overall management responsibility for all hotel associates.

The Task Force Manager must be able to motivate, coach, develop, and hold hotel leadership and associates accountable for performance and company standards.

Travel and Scheduling Requirements

Regular travel throughout Massachusetts and Rhode Island is required.
Assignments may vary in location, scope, and duration based on company needs.
Overnight hotel stays may be required during certain assignments.
Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays as business needs require.
Must be able to respond to hotel emergencies and urgent operational matters when assigned.

Physical Demands

Must be able to stand, sit, bend, stoop, and walk for extended periods.
Must possess the stamina necessary to work in a high-energy hotel environment for periods exceeding eight hours.
Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively.
Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds.
Must be able to move throughout all areas of the hotel and assist operational departments when necessary.

Working Conditions

Employees are expected to comply with all established safety procedures.
The position requires working in close proximity to others while managing multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
Professional and courteous conduct is required at all times.
Work assignments and schedules may change based on the operational needs of the company.

The duties and responsibilities described above may be modified temporarily or permanently based on business necessity. Employees may be required to perform additional duties consistent with the needs of the hotel and First Bristol Corporation.
