United Liquid Waste Recycling, Inc. (ULWR), an LJP Company, is looking for a full-time Facility Maintenance Technician with forklift experience to join our growing team. This role is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and fabrication of critical plant equipment, including conveyors, motors, pumps, and piping, as well as building and modifying sorting systems and other machinery needed for daily operations. The ideal candidate is a skilled welder and fabricator with a strong mechanical background, is comfortable reading blueprints and layouts, and can work independently to keep our facility running safely and efficiently.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform general machine repair and preventive maintenance on conveyors, motors, pumps, and piping throughout the facility.
- Comprehend detailed design specifications and fabricate parts, conveyors, sorting systems, and other machinery to meet those specifications.
- Develop layouts and plan the sequence of operations needed to complete fabrication and repair projects.
- Position, align, fit, and weld parts together using stick, MIG, and TIG welding processes, including stainless steel.
- Read and interpret blueprints, layouts, and technical drawings to guide repair and fabrication work.
- Operate standard shop machinery, including plasma torches and torch grinders, safely and correctly.
- Operate a forklift to move materials, parts, and equipment throughout the facility as needed.
- Diagnose mechanical issues and determine the most effective and timely repair approach.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop and work area.
- Follow all detailed written and verbal instructions from supervisors and management.
- Maintain reliable, consistent attendance to support facility operations.
- Perform other tasks and duties as assigned by management.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.3-5+ years of hands-on maintenance and/or fabrication experience.
- Proficiency in stick, MIG, and TIG welding.
- Experience welding stainless steel.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and layouts.
- Forklift operating experience.
- Ability to follow detailed written and oral instructions.
- Ability to operate standard shop machinery, such as plasma torches and torch grinders.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to develop layouts and plan sequences of operations independently.
- Reliable attendance and dependability.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications in MIG and TIG welding.
- Forklift certification.
- Completion of formal welding courses or vocational training.
- Prior experience maintaining industrial equipment such as conveyors, pumps, or sorting systems in a manufacturing, recycling, or waste-processing environment.
Physical Demands and Mental Demands:
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
- Ability to work at heights, including on ladders and elevated platforms.
- Ability to work in and around confined spaces.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. to 75 lbs. on a frequent and repetitive basis.
- Ability to work on objects positioned overhead and/or while lying down.
- Ability to maintain focus and use sound judgment while operating welding equipment, shop machinery, and forklifts.
- Ability to concentrate on detailed technical specifications and troubleshoot mechanical problems accurately.
- Ability to safely manage physically demanding, repetitive tasks over the course of a shift.
Working Environment:
- Work is performed in a facility maintenance and fabrication shop setting, with exposure to all weather conditions.
- Regular exposure to welding equipment, plasma torches, torch grinders, and other standard shop machinery.
- Exposure to noise, fumes, dust, and other conditions typical of a mechanical and fabrication work environment.
- Works around moving equipment, including forklifts and conveyor systems, and must maintain awareness of surroundings at all times.
- First-shift schedule: 6:00 AM – 2:00 PM.
- Fast-paced environment that requires flexibility, problem-solving, and coordination with the broader maintenance and operations team.
