Job Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join our finance team! In this vital role, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, assisting with accounts payable and receivable, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. Your expertise will support our organization’s financial health and help us achieve our strategic goals. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with diverse accounting systems and software, including QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, and other financial tools. Responsibilities

Record and process journal entries using accounting software to ensure accurate financial data.
Perform bank reconciliations regularly to verify account balances and identify discrepancies.
Manage accounts payable by processing invoices, verifying expenses, and ensuring timely payments.
Handle accounts receivable tasks, including invoicing clients and tracking payments received.
Reconcile the general ledger and prepare balance sheet reconciliations in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
Assist with payroll processing by ensuring accurate employee compensation records.
Generate detailed financial reports, including income statements and cash flow statements, to support management decision-making.
Maintain organized records of all financial transactions, supporting audits and compliance efforts.
Support budgeting processes by analyzing expenses and preparing variance reports.
Ensure adherence to accounting standards such as GAAP and maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant financial concepts.

Skills

Proven experience with bookkeeping, accounting software (QuickBooks Online, Xero, Sage), and financial systems.
Strong understanding of corporate accounting practices as well as non-profit accounting procedures.
Proficiency in spreadsheets (Excel or Google Sheets) for data analysis and report writing.
Knowledge of double entry bookkeeping, journal entries, debits & credits, and account reconciliation processes.
Experience with payroll processing, accounts payable/receivable management, and bank reconciliations.
Familiarity with GAAP standards and general ledger accounting principles.
Ability to perform account analysis, balance sheet reconciliation, and budget preparation accurately.
Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail; capable of managing multiple tasks efficiently.
Strong communication skills for clear documentation of financial reports and collaboration with team members.
