We are a Destination Marketing Association that is “a not-for-profit organization charged with representing a specific destination, and most are largely funded by hotel occupancy taxes.”
We are your go-to source for anything happening in the Fargo-Moorhead-West Fargo area. Visit Fargo-Moorhead is fully funded by a lodging tax paid for by visitors staying in area hotels and has a board of directors that governs the organization.

POSITION SUMMARY
The Jr. Convention Sales Manager is a key supporting role responsible for supporting convention sales efforts by assisting with industry research, supporting lead generating efforts, and helping with RFP preparation. This role will proactively support the identification and pursuit of group meetings, conventions, and event opportunities, assist with the sales process, and serve as a resource for client questions and destination information. This role will collaborate with the sales team to ensure proper data entry into the CRM and help coordinate logistics for FAM tours and site visits.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Main duties & responsibilities
- · Conduct industry, market, and account research to identify prospective meetings, conventions, and group business opportunities.
- · Assist with lead generation efforts, prospecting activities, database management, and follow-up communications with clients.
- · Help maintain accurate and up-to-date client, account, lead, and activity information within the CRM system.
- · Assist the Convention Sales team with the preparation, coordination, and submission of RFP responses, proposals, presentations, bid documents, and promotional materials.
- · Coordinate logistics and provide administrative support for site visits, familiarization (FAM) tours, client meetings, and hosted events.
- · Serve as a resource for client questions by providing destination information, hotel and venue options, and community resources.
- · Assist with assigned accounts by maintaining regular communication, tracking opportunities, and supporting relationship-building efforts.
- · Represent Visit Fargo-Moorhead at trade shows, industry events, sales missions, networking functions, and community events as assigned.
- · Prepare reports, track sales activities and performance metrics, and assist with maintaining departmental records and documentation.
- · Stay informed on industry trends, competitive destinations, and market developments to support sales strategies and business development efforts.
Convention Center Partnership & Integration (once project is contracted & building has begun) In addition to the above:
- · Develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with the convention center sales and operations teams.
- · Assist with coordination efforts between Visit Fargo-Moorhead, the convention center, hotels, venues, and community stakeholders.
- · Participate in planning meetings and support communication efforts related to convention center opportunities, client needs, and operational planning.
- · Help gather and distribute information needed to support convention center sales initiatives and event planning efforts.
Partner & Stakeholder Engagement
- · Build and maintain positive working relationships with hotels, venues, event service providers, and community partners.
- · Participate in collaborative efforts with the Sports Sales team and other departments to support a coordinated destination sales approach.
- · Assist with communicating lead opportunities and client needs to hospitality partners and stakeholders.
- · Support partner engagement initiatives, educational programs, and industry outreach efforts.
- · Serve as a professional ambassador for the Fargo-Moorhead-West Fargo community and the local hospitality industry.
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications
- · 2+ years of experience in convention sales, destination sales, hotel sales or a related hospitality role.
- · Strong presentation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- · Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and client relationships simultaneously.
- · Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- · Experience in working in a CVB/DMO environment beneficial
- · Knowledge of convention center operations and citywide booking strategies a plus
- · Experience working in a CRM system.

Abilities, work environment, compensation
- Primarily indoors, office environment with an option to work remotely after a probationary period
