Full Job Description

Are you a skilled CNC Lathe Machinist looking for a new opportunity in New Britain, CT? Our manufacturing client is currently hiring for a Second Shift CNC Lathe Operator position. This direct-hire role requires a minimum of five years of experience in CNC machine setup, with expertise in setting up and operating CNC lathe equipment, especially Nakamura machines.

The ideal candidate will have a strong ability to interpret technical drawings and work instructions, as well as select and set tooling, perform inspections, troubleshoot machining issues, and provide support to operators in the CNC Lathe Department.

Key Responsibilities

Set up and operate CNC lathe equipment, focusing on Nakamura machines.
Independently work from blueprints, technical drawings, and instructions.
Select, change, and set necessary tooling.
Determine and adjust feeds and speeds accordingly.
Conduct first-piece and in-process inspections.
Utilize measuring and gauging equipment effectively.
Ensure the quality of all products produced on assigned machines.
Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and production challenges.
Train and supervise department operators.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area through required 5S activities.
Participate in line walks in the lathe area as directed.
Adhere to all company safety policies and report any unsafe conditions promptly.
Perform additional duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.

Qualifications

Minimum of five years of CNC machine setup experience.
Demonstrated proficiency in CNC lathe setup and operation.
Preference for experience with Nakamura equipment.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and manufacturing instructions.
Strong analytical and troubleshooting capabilities.
Knowledge of machining feeds and speeds.
Proficiency in using inspection tools and measuring instruments.
Capable of working independently while supporting department operators.
Understanding of Lean Enterprise principles and tools.
