Full Job Description

Come join Prism’s team! Looking for a Director of Education who wants to change the lives of children with autism ages 3-14 utilizing the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). Prism Academy provides a 10-month plus ESY (Extended School Year), intensive, educational program for children with autism. Prism’s ABA programming is compassionate and relationship-based.

The Director of Education (DoE) is responsible for the administrative aspects of the educational and business operation needs of Prism Academy. The DoE ensures the Academy complies with external regulatory requirements, internal policies, and leads policy development. The DoE also supports the day to day operations and growth of the Academy by managing the administrative aspect of referrals, IEP implementation and coordination with districts.

Minimum Requirements:

092 Intermediate Administration or Supervision (or state equivalent) and 165 Comprehensive Special Education, K–12 required
2+ years minimum experience in a school leadership position
Experience in school settings, familiarity with the educational system (e.g., development of IEP goals and objectives, progress monitoring, and reporting)
Knowledgeable and passionate about educating children with Autism
Working knowledge of evidence-based practice in educating children with Autism and Applied Behavior Analysis
CT Licensure as a Behavior Analyst preferred but not required
Must be able to remain conscious and alert at all times

RESPONSIBILITIES*

Clinical and Administrative:

Lead policy development that aligns with applicable laws and regulations and assist with implementation
In coordination with the Manager of Compliance and Clinical Services, act as Prism Academy’s Compliance Officer
Ensure compliance with internal policies and procedures as well as laws and regulations regarding Approved Private Special Education Programs (APSEP) in the state of CT
Develop systems to monitor compliance with these policies, procedures, and regulations and respond accordingly when non-compliance is found or reported
Ensure administrative and clinical compliance to Individualized Education Programs
Serve as state liaison and subject matter expert
Maintain and apply for state certifications as needed
Participate in the growth and development of the Academy by overseeing the enrollment/admissions process and providing guidance on dismissal/termination of services when needed
Serve as administrative representative in Planning and Placement Team (PPT) meetings
Lead development of procedures related to various educational circumstances (e.g., long-term placements, diagnostic placements, triennials, annuals, district agreements)
Conduct teacher observations and evaluations as required by the state
Participate in various aspects of onboarding, staffing, and offboarding
Participate in professional groups/organizations that foster community relationships and Prism’s mission and/or initiatives
Support communication with parents regarding Prism Academy updates, student specific needs, and federal/state regulatory changes as needed

Basic & Physical
