Full Job Description

Company Overview
We are a multi-entity operation with a strong presence in construction, real estate development, and equine services. We are looking for a highly organized Staff Accountant with exceptional data entry skills to support day-to-day accounting functions in a fast-paced, growing business.

Position Summary

This role is primarily responsible for accurate and timely entry of financial data into QuickBooks Desktop and ensuring documentation is organized and complete. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, consistency in high-volume processing, and experience working with job costing for construction projects. Experience in agricultural or horse farm accounting is a plus.

Key Responsibilities

Enter, classify, and maintain invoices, bills, receipts, and payments in QuickBooks Desktop
Support construction job costing through accurate cost entry and tracking
Daily data entry for AP/AR, credit cards, bank transactions, and payroll journal entries
Reconcile vendor statements and ensure accurate documentation
Organize and maintain digital and physical accounting files
Assist with basic month-end tasks (bank reconciliations, simple journal entries, reporting)
Maintain detailed records of equine-related expenses (feed, training, veterinary, breeding, etc.)
Follow consistent workflows and assist with process improvements

Required Qualifications

1–3 years of accounting or data entry experience
QuickBooks Desktop proficiency required
Fast and accurate data entry skills with minimal errors
Strong organizational and filing discipline
Basic understanding of standard accounting practices (debits/credits)
Proficient with Microsoft Excel

Preferred Experience

Construction job costing
Multi-entity accounting
Familiarity with horse farm or agricultural accounting
Experience working with subcontractors and lien releases (optional depending on scope)
