Full Job Description

Major Job Duties

This role is responsible for executing and implementing the Strategic Communications plan, including the

development and execution of related communications activities that advance company strategy and

culture goals. The position provides management level oversight and counsel to develop, coordinate,

implement, and manage all strategic communications activities supporting the vision to educate the

public and build greater understanding of the value of the services CSWR and its subsidiaries provide.

This role involves both high level and tactical collaboration with Customer Experience, Engineering,

Finance, Regulatory, Operations, Engineering, and Leadership, and includes the management of external

strategic partners with a view toward promoting the company’s mission to deliver safe, reliable, and

environmentally responsible water resources and services to customers and stakeholders.

Primary Responsibilities

Execute the Strategic Communications Plan and create a path for its implementation across the

company. Focus on customers and stakeholders throughout the acquisition lifecycle, with a view

toward educating customers on the condition of their utility and service

Identify industry trends and proactively develop messaging and responses for a variety of situations
Collaborate with designated teams to develop and manage Storm Responses, to include customers,

regulatory personnel, and investors. Update Strategy as conditions and circumstances warrant

Develop, implement and manage a Crisis Response Strategy to include appropriate messaging for

various audiences including customers, regulatory, and public relations

Work closely with local media during crisis events, serving as the central point of contact for fielding

and responding to press and media inquiries

Manage the development and execution of effective communications materials to ensure consistent

messaging for designated audiences. This includes both scheduled and unscheduled

communications and related activities across all designated platforms (web, socials, written, billing,

email, etc.)

Collaborate with Regulatory team to implement a calendar of tactics and activities that ensure

ongoing, consistent and targeted communications before, during, and after rate case filings

Work with Engineering and Operations teams to create Water Systems Overviews that include data

and photographs (and potentially videos), providing a historical view from system acquisition through

capital investment

Develop and manage Messaging for Community and Stakeholder meetings
Manage the development of Corporate and UOC branded templates for special communication

pieces and presentations

Provide oversight in the planning, execution and distribution of the monthly internal Employee

Newsletter

Develop a UOC Newsletter strategy that conveys a sense of “local presence”, identifying specific

systems and rotating these systems; establish a calendar for digital publication

Support Customer Experience in the oversight of Service Interruption messaging, ensuring customers are well informed regarding the status of their service
Provide communications support to Business Development including strategic messaging guidanceand effective communications tactics to reach external audiences
Manage partner agency in website development and socials to support content and strategic communications goals at both a corporate and UOC level
Maintain, implement and continue to manage a comprehensive Communications SOP Manual, collaborating with departments and gaining buy-in from them
Effectively utilize social media to support the company’s goals and communications objectives
Work in a seamless and integrated manner to ensure the effective strategic alignment and coordination of all communications – both internal and external, providing support, counsel, and necessary materials

Education/Skills

A bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 5-7 years’ experience working in a corporate

environment

Strategic/corporate communications, marketing, public relations, or related field
preferred
Experience in Utilities industry is a plus

Pay: $90,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
