Full Job Description

Job Overview
Join our dynamic dental team as a combined Dental Assistant and Dental Hygienist, where your expertise will directly enhance patient care and comfort. In this vital role, you will provide exceptional clinical support, perform preventive dental services, and assist with complex procedures across general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, and oral surgery. Your energetic approach and attention to detail will ensure smooth clinic operations while maintaining the highest standards of infection prevention and clinical confidentiality. Responsibilities

Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all dental equipment is ready for procedures in accordance with dental sterilization procedures and infection control policies.
Assist dentists during a variety of treatments including restorative, endodontics, prosthodontics, oral surgery, and pediatric dentistry, practicing four-handed dentistry for efficiency.
Take and develop dental x-rays and 3D scans using advanced medical imaging technology while adhering to HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy.
Record detailed medical documentation and update electronic health records (EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, Epic) accurately and efficiently.
Perform chairside assisting by managing dental instruments, maintaining aseptic techniques, and supporting patient comfort throughout procedures.
Conduct vital signs assessments and review medical histories to ensure patient safety prior to treatment.
Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, post-treatment care, and preventive measures while demonstrating excellent communication skills.
Manage dental instrument processing including sterilization procedures and inventory management to ensure compliance with infection prevention standards.
Support the dental receptionist by scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and managing patient flow seamlessly.
Uphold clinical confidentiality policies while maintaining a professional demeanor in all interactions with patients and team members.

Experience

Proven experience working in a dental clinic environment with familiarity in general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, or oral surgery preferred.
Hands-on experience with dental x-ray techniques, medical imaging tools including 3D scanners, and dental instrument processing is highly desirable.
Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and healthcare infection prevention practices.
Proficiency with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix; experience with Epic is a plus.
Demonstrated ability to perform dental assisting duties including four-handed dentistry and chairside support efficiently.
Knowledge of HIPAA regulations related to medical records management and medical coding practices for accurate documentation.
Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in maintaining sterilization protocols and clinical records.
Ability to communicate effectively with diverse patient populations including pediatrics while demonstrating empathy and professionalism.
