Wedding & Event Planner

Location: Genesee County, Michigan
Position Type: Full-Time
Compensation: Competitive salary based on experience

About the Opportunity

A premier event venue in Genesee County is seeking an experienced, organized, and customer-focused Wedding & Event Planner to join our team. This position is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing weddings, social events, corporate functions, and special occasions while providing exceptional customer service from initial inquiry through event completion.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and passionate about creating memorable guest experiences.

Key Responsibilities Event Sales & Client Relations

Respond to event inquiries and conduct venue tours.
Build relationships with prospective and existing clients.
Prepare event proposals, contracts, and event orders.
Guide clients through the planning process from booking through event completion.
Follow up on leads and assist in achieving event revenue goals.

Event Planning & Coordination

Meet with clients to discuss event vision, timelines, menu selections, room layouts, décor, and logistics.
Coordinate weddings, receptions, showers, corporate meetings, fundraisers, and social events.
Create detailed event timelines and execution plans.
Serve as the primary contact for clients throughout the planning process.

Event Execution

Oversee event setup, service, and breakdown.
Coordinate with culinary, banquet, maintenance, and other operational teams.
Manage outside vendors including florists, entertainers, photographers, and rental companies.
Ensure all events are executed according to client expectations and venue standards.
Address and resolve issues professionally and efficiently during events.

Administrative Responsibilities

Maintain event calendars and booking schedules.
Track deposits, payments, and event documentation.
Generate post-event reports and gather client feedback.
Assist with marketing initiatives and social media promotion of events and venue offerings.

QualificationsRequired

Minimum of 2 years of experience in event planning, wedding coordination, hospitality, catering, or banquet management.
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by event schedules.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and event management software.

Preferred

Experience in wedding planning, hotels, banquet facilities, or event venues.
Knowledge of food and beverage operations.
Sales experience and contract management skills.
Professional certifications related to event or wedding planning.
