ABOUT ALVIC USA
Alvic USA LLC manufactures and distributes European-engineered cabinetry, decorative surfaces, and architectural panels — including our LUXE, ZÉNIT, and SYNCRON product lines — from our manufacturing facility in Auburndale/Lakeland, Florida. We operate on a trade-only wholesale model serving designers, fabricators, dealers, and developers nationwide.
Our products are defined by their finish quality, color and gloss consistency, and dimensional precision. Maintaining that standard across every panel and component we produce and distribute is the core mission of our Quality function. Our workforce is substantially bilingual (English/Spanish).
POSITION SUMMARY
The Quality Control Manager owns the quality management system (QMS) and leads the quality function at Alvic USA's Auburndale/Lakeland manufacturing plant. This is a working management role responsible for inspection of inbound materials, in-process components, and finished decorative panels and cabinetry products, as well as for the team, procedures, data, and supplier-quality relationships that keep our product standard consistent and defensible.
Reporting to the Industrial Director, the QC Manager builds and enforces inspection standards specific to decorative surfaces — including color, gloss, and texture consistency, surface defect detection, edge banding and lamination integrity, and dimensional tolerances — and partners with production, engineering, and supply chain to drive root-cause resolution and continuous improvement.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Quality Inspection & Product Standards
- Establish and oversee inspection of incoming raw materials (panels, substrates, films, foils, adhesives, finishes) — including inbound and imported supplier shipments — against specification.
- Oversee in-process and finished-goods inspection of decorative panels, cabinetry components, and architectural surfaces for surface defects (orange peel, telegraphing, inclusions, scratches), delamination, edge-banding integrity, and adhesion.
- Define and enforce color, gloss, and texture consistency standards across LUXE, ZÉNIT, and SYNCRON lines using spectrophotometers, gloss meters, and controlled-lighting visual inspection.
- Verify dimensional tolerances using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges) and ensure measurement systems are calibrated and maintained.
- Govern non-conformance handling: documentation, segregation/quarantine of defective material, disposition (rework, scrap, use-as-is), and corrective action.
2. Quality Management System & Procedures
- Develop, document, implement, and maintain quality control procedures, inspection checklists, sampling plans, and work instructions.
- Own the plant's quality management system documentation and drive readiness toward recognized standards (e.g., ISO 9001) where applicable.
- Plan and conduct internal quality audits; track findings and verify closure of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Maintain calibration schedules and records for all measuring and test equipment.
3. Data Analysis & Reporting
- Collect, analyze, and interpret quality data using statistical methods and statistical process control (SPC).
- Produce quality metrics and dashboards — defect rates, first-pass yield, scrap/rework cost, supplier quality, customer return/complaint trends — for the Industrial Director and leadership.
- Translate data into actionable recommendations to reduce defects and improve process capability.
4. Team Leadership & Training
- Lead, schedule, and develop the QC inspection team; set inspection coverage across production shifts.
- Train inspectors and production personnel on quality standards, inspection methods, and defect recognition — delivered effectively to a bilingual (English/Spanish) workforce.
- Build quality accountability and a strong defect-reporting culture on the production floor.
5. Supplier Quality & Continuous Improvement
- Manage supplier quality: evaluate vendor performance, communicate non-conformances, and drive corrective action with domestic and international suppliers.
- Lead and participate in cross-functional continuous-improvement projects addressing root cause and recurrence prevention.
- Collaborate with production, engineering, and supply chain to implement corrective and preventive actions.
6. Compliance & External Audits
- Ensure compliance with applicable industry regulations, customer requirements, and internal quality standards.
- Support external audits and customer inspections with documentation and on-site participation.
- Maintain audit-ready, defensible quality records.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Management, Industrial Technology, or a related field — OR equivalent combination of education and demonstrated manufacturing quality experience.
- Minimum five (5) years of quality experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment, including at least two (2) years leading a quality team or function.
- Hands-on knowledge of quality control principles, inspection methods, metrology, and statistical process control (SPC).
- Experience owning or substantially contributing to a quality management system (QMS), internal audits, and CAPA processes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
- Effective written and verbal communication, including the ability to convey technical quality information clearly to operators, suppliers, and leadership.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Quality experience in decorative surfaces, panels, cabinetry, furniture, woodworking, building products, laminates, or coatings/finishing.
- Familiarity with color and gloss measurement (spectrophotometry, gloss meters) and controlled-lighting surface inspection.
- Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish — strongly preferred given our workforce composition.
- ISO 9001 internal-auditor experience.
- Professional certifications such as CQE, CQM, or Six Sigma (Green/Black Belt).
- Experience managing supplier quality with international vendors.
