Tax Associate – CPA Firm (In-Person)

Location: Fort Myers, FL
Position: Full-Time
Work Setting: In-Person (This is not a remote or hybrid position.)

We are a growing, client-focused CPA firm committed to providing exceptional tax, accounting, and advisory services to individuals and businesses. We value professionalism, accuracy, integrity, and outstanding client service. We are seeking a motivated Tax Associate who enjoys working in a collaborative office environment and takes pride in producing high-quality work.

Position Summary

The Tax Associate will prepare individual and business tax returns, assist with tax planning, communicate with clients, and support senior staff with a variety of tax and accounting projects. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple deadlines during tax season and throughout the year.

Qualifications

Required:

Minimum 3 years of recent public accounting experience in a CPA firm preparing tax returns.
Experience preparing individual, partnership, S corporation, C corporation, trust, and/or nonprofit tax returns.
Strong understanding of federal and state tax laws.
Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to prioritize multiple projects while meeting deadlines.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Professional demeanor and commitment to excellent client service.
Proficiency with tax preparation software.

Preferred:

Experience with QuickBooks and bookkeeping.

Experience reviewing tax returns and researching tax issues.

Responsibilities

Prepare federal and state individual and business tax returns.
Review client information for completeness and accuracy.
Communicate with clients regarding missing information and tax questions.
Perform tax research as needed.
Prepare tax projections and assist with tax planning.
Assist with IRS and state tax notices and correspondence.
Maintain organized electronic workpapers and client files.
Work closely with partners and other team members to meet filing deadlines.
Identify opportunities to improve client tax positions and internal processes.
Assist with bookkeeping and accounting projects when needed.
