Full Job Description

Job Summary:

We are currently hiring for WEEKENDS ONLY, 1st, 2nd and 3rd shift. You will be required to work at least two weekends a month, but all four are an option.

We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Direct Care Coaches to provide quality care and support to child survivors of human trafficking, in a faith-based, home-like setting. As a Direct Care Coach, you will assist clients with their daily activities, ensuring their safety, comfort, and well-being. This is a very meaningful and rewarding opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of local children.

Direct Care Coaches are responsible for working alongside residents by supervising and giving trauma informed care. DCCs will teach and model therapeutic methods of managing stress and other behaviors.

Shift/Work Hours:

Scheduled Part-time is 16-36 hours weekly
Overtime is paid over 40 hours per week.
Standard shift is 7am - 3:30pm or 3pm-11:30pm or 11:00pm to 7:30am
Required for DCC: Minimum of 16 weekend hours must be worked every 2 weeks.
Required for every DCC: Assigned a mandatory 4 shift holiday schedule at the start of every calendar year.

We are currently looking for 2nd, and 3rd shift staff for 16- 32+ hours a week.

Rate of Pay: $16-$18/hr commensurate with education and experience

*A urine drug screen and background clearance are required *

To understand, accept and abide by Prism Project’s goals and core values.
Provide a safe and nurturing learning environment for youth.
Provide constant attentive supervision for youth on all shifts including during recreational activities and outings.
Provide one-on-one supervision to youth as required.
Assist and motivate youth to complete education requirements, homework and independent living activities.
Model and promote basic life-skills such as good communication, critical thinking, problem solving, time management, teamwork, leadership, self-awareness, stress management, conflict resolution, etc.
Walking alongside and teaching youth about good habits of cooking, cleaning and living a healthy lifestyle.
Distribute psychotropic medication to youth as required, document in the Medication Administration Record (MAR).
Document observations in log and communicate to other staff members about residents privately.
Provide appropriate emotional support as needed.
Assist in preserving youth’s culture by implementing the youth’s traditions or cultural activities.
Consult daily with other caregivers to ensure the needs of youth are being met.
Submit completed documentation for any Incident Report within 24 hours of incident.
Obtain Continuing Education Credits as required by State of Michigan. 50 hours first year, and 25 hours each consecutive year.
Participate in mandatory training sessions live and on Zoom as required.
Attend mandatory staff meetings to discuss youth and program-related issues.
Attend mandatory evaluations and Employee Action Meetings, as required.
Must be able to work a flexible schedule. While we strive to meet the needs of a given preferred schedule, there will be times that hours will be scheduled outside of the preferred schedule, as required.
Must be able to stay an extra shift to comply with state ratio requirements. As a 24 hour facility we are required at times to mandate employees to stay up to an additional 8 hours. All employees have the right to refuse up to 3 times per calendar year without repercussions. For more information please see Employee Handbook for Mandation Policy.
Preferred ability to transport youth to outings, after training is obtained.
Maintain confidentiality about sensitive information.
Perform all duties reviewed during shadowing, as well as other duties as assigned by supervisor or administration.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Be a positive role model for youth and co-workers while promoting a positive work environment.
Demonstrate thorough knowledge of the policies and procedures of the Prism Project’s Mission Ranch and MDHHS Minimum Standards for residential treatment centers.
Demonstrate competence and consistent implementation of the core components of the Prism Project’s treatment program as taught in pre-service and in-service training.
Able to maintain current knowledge of the treatment plan and special needs of each assigned child; to ensure the implementation of each assigned child’s treatment plan; to ensure documentation of progress of the children for their treatment plans; to provide leadership in the ongoing assessment of assigned children.
Able to prioritize and respond to the needs of the children; to effectively use time to ensure assigned tasks are completed within designated timeframes.
Able to work cooperatively and productively with supervisor, coworkers and volunteers.
To maintain professional relationships and demonstrate an ability to resolve conflicts discreetly.
Appropriately use the proper chain of command when communicating or addressing concerns.
Able to demonstrate advanced leadership skills in working with children and coworkers.
Able to receive constructive feedback and take suggestions for professional development.
Able to provide constructive feedback in a professional manner.
Willing to grow professionally and learn new skills.
Able to work in a stressful and sometimes unpredictable environment; demonstrate skill in handling crisis situations without overreaction or loss of objectivity.
Possess good communications skills, verbally and in writing.
Ability to function in fast paced environments, and adapt as necessary.
Possess good work ethic and integrity.
Must be self-motivated and able to work without supervision.

Qualifications:

Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Bachelor’s degree in human services field is preferred.
Minimum of 1 year experience working with adolescents and families and/or at-risk youth, in a residential treatment setting is preferred.
Must be 18 years old, prefer to be 21 years of age with a valid/current driver’s license.
Must be able to pass drug tests and criminal background checks annually.
Must be physically able to use authorized Crisis Intervention techniques
Must complete OnWatch, Unconscious Bias, and Basic First Aid before active duty can begin.
Must complete all required orientation and assigned shadowing shifts before active duty can begin.
Must complete required TBRI, BBI, and SOGIE training before the end of the 90 day probationary period.
Must complete CPI training provided by Prism Project within the first year of employment.
