Job Summary
We are seeking a proactive and organized Tow Truck Dispatcher to coordinate the efficient dispatching of tow trucks and manage incoming service requests. In this vital role, you will serve as the communication hub between customers, drivers, and service providers, ensuring prompt response times and seamless operations. Your expertise in transportation management systems and strong communication skills will help deliver exceptional service while maintaining safety and efficiency across all towing activities. This position offers an exciting opportunity to be at the heart of our logistics network, supporting vehicle recovery and roadside assistance with energy and precision.

Responsibilities

Receive and prioritize incoming calls from customers requiring towing or roadside assistance using multi-line phone systems.
Dispatch tow trucks promptly based on location, availability, and urgency, utilizing GPS, GIS (Geographic Information Systems), and transportation management software such as Oracle Transportation Management.
Maintain real-time communication with drivers via GPS tracking and two-way radios to monitor progress and provide updates.
Log all dispatch activities accurately into data entry systems like SyteLine or AS400, ensuring detailed records of service requests, driver locations, and job completion status.
Coordinate with logistics teams for shipping & receiving schedules, fleet management, and 3PL (third-party logistics) providers to optimize resource utilization.
Communicate effectively with customers using professional phone etiquette, providing clear instructions and reassurance during stressful situations.
Monitor fleet status, vehicle maintenance schedules, and supply chain logistics to ensure readiness for dispatching needs.

Skills

Strong analysis skills to assess situations quickly and determine optimal dispatch strategies.
Proficiency in transportation planning, logistics coordination, and transportation management systems such as Towbook, Oracle Transportation Management or SyteLine.
Experience with GPS technology, GIS mapping tools, and fleet management software to enhance dispatch accuracy.
Excellent communication skills with a focus on phone etiquette, clarity in instructions, and active listening.
Data entry proficiency with typing speed to handle multiple tasks efficiently across systems like AS400 or transportation management platforms.
Knowledge of shipping & receiving procedures along with freight handling processes within a 3PL environment.
Ability to operate multi-line phone systems and manage high-volume call traffic calmly under pressure.
