Full Job Description

A growing switchgear manufacturing company located in Jurupa Valley is seeking a driven and technically capable Application & Field Sales Engineer to support business development and client engagement efforts.

This role is primarily sales-focused, requiring strong communication skills, relationship-building ability, and a solid electrical background. The position bridges the gap between engineering and sales by helping customers understand technical solutions, preparing accurate quotes, and supporting the sales process from initial inquiry through project execution.

The ideal candidate is comfortable working with customers, interpreting technical requirements, and driving opportunities to close while collaborating with internal engineering and production teams.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and manage relationships with electrical contractors, distributors, engineers, and industrial clients
Identify new business opportunities and support ongoing account growth
Review customer requirements, specifications, and one-line diagrams to recommend appropriate solutions
Prepare and deliver technical proposals, quotations, and sales presentations
Support the sales cycle from lead generation through closing and post-sale follow-up
Serve as a technical resource for customers, helping them understand product capabilities and options
Coordinate with engineering and production teams to ensure accurate project scope and execution
Attend site visits, client meetings, and industry events as needed
Track opportunities, customer interactions, and sales pipeline activity
Assist with resolving technical or application-related issues during project execution

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field preferred (or equivalent experience)
Strong electrical background with understanding of power distribution systems
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and one-line diagrams
Prior experience in technical sales, applications engineering, or electrical distribution preferred
Strong communication, presentation, and negotiation skills
Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple accounts and priorities
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively

Preferred Skills

Experience working with switchgear, switchboards, or electrical distribution equipment
Familiarity with major manufacturers such as Siemens, Eaton, or Schneider Electric (Square D)
Knowledge of UL, NEC, and NEMA standards (a plus)
CRM experience (Salesforce, HubSpot, or similar)
Experience in field sales or customer-facing technical roles

Work Environment

This role includes both in-office responsibilities and field-based work, including customer visits, site walkthroughs, and occasional travel within the region.
