Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Funeral Director with a valid license to join our team. In this vital role, you will oversee the entire funeral service process, ensuring that each family receives respectful, personalized care during their time of loss. Your expertise will guide families through difficult moments with professionalism, empathy, and attention to detail. You will coordinate funeral arrangements, manage logistical operations, and uphold the highest standards of mortuary practices, all while providing exceptional customer service. This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in people's lives through compassionate support and expert guidance.

Responsibilities

Coordinate and plan funeral services, including scheduling, logistics, and ceremony arrangements to meet families’ wishes.
Prepare and handle deceased persons with dignity, including embalming, cosmetic application, and manual handling to ensure respectful presentation.
Operate company vehicles safely for transportation of remains and equipment, adhering to all safety protocols.
Provide bereavement support and clear communication to families throughout the entire funeral process.
Manage mortuary science procedures based on principles of anatomy, physiology, and dissection techniques to ensure proper care of remains.
Oversee sanitation and sanitation procedures within the mortuary environment to maintain hygiene standards.
Utilize funeral service technology for record keeping, scheduling, and client management efficiently.
Assist with heavy lifting tasks related to caskets or equipment while following proper safety guidelines.
Plan and execute funeral events in collaboration with clients, clergy, or celebrants to create meaningful ceremonies.
Engage in sales activities by offering funeral products and services tailored to client needs while maintaining ethical standards.

Qualifications

Valid license as a New York State Funeral Director with comprehensive knowledge of mortuary science principles.
Strong understanding of anatomy, physiology, embalming techniques, and cosmetic application for deceased persons.
Experience in funeral directing, event planning, and client communication within a funeral home setting.
Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and handle manual tasks associated with mortuary work.
Knowledge of cremation processes and related regulations.
Excellent organizational skills for managing multiple arrangements simultaneously.
Proficiency with funeral service technology systems for documentation and scheduling purposes.
Exceptional customer service skills with sensitivity toward grieving families during difficult times.
Familiarity with sanitation standards and dissection procedures as part of mortuary practices.
Ability to operate company vehicles responsibly and adhere to safety protocols at all times.
