Job Title: Medical Director – Behavioral Health (Part-Time)
Organization: Beautiful Hearts and Minds Health Services
Location: Maryland
Schedule: Part-Time (20 hours per week)
Compensation: $55–$75 per hour

Beautiful Hearts and Minds Health Services is a growing outpatient behavioral health organization committed to providing high-quality, compassionate, and compliant mental health services to individuals and families across Maryland. We are dedicated to clinical excellence, regulatory compliance, and positive patient outcomes.

Position Summary

The Medical Director provides clinical leadership and oversight of psychiatric and behavioral health services within the Outpatient Mental Health Center (OMHC). This role ensures that all clinical services meet Maryland COMAR 10.21.20 regulations, Behavioral Health Administration (BHA) standards, and best practices in psychiatric care.

This position may be filled by a licensed Psychiatrist (MD/DO) or a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (CRNP-PMH), provided all regulatory and supervisory requirements are met.

Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Oversight & Leadership

Provide oversight of psychiatric evaluations, diagnosis, and treatment planning
Ensure accuracy of DSM-5 diagnoses and implementation of appropriate psychiatric interventions
Oversee medication management practices, including prescribing, monitoring, and patient education
Establish and maintain clinical standards and treatment protocols

Direct Clinical Services

Provide psychiatric evaluations and medication management services
Ensure services are delivered in accordance with agency policies, Medicaid requirements, and COMAR regulations

Clinical Supervision

Provide clinical consultation and supervision to therapists, nurse practitioners, and clinical staff
Meet with staff regularly to:
assess clinical competency
review complex cases
support care coordination
Promote adherence to evidence-based practices

Quality Assurance & Auditing

Lead and participate in Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Improvement (QI) activities
Conduct regular chart audits to ensure:
accurate documentation
appropriate diagnoses
compliance with treatment plans
adherence to medication management standards
Implement corrective actions when needed

Regulatory Compliance

Ensure compliance with:
Maryland COMAR 10.21.20 regulations
Behavioral Health Administration (BHA) requirements
Medicaid and payer documentation standards
Support the organization in:
licensing inspections
audits and accreditation processes

Program & Policy Oversight

Review and approve clinical policies and procedures
Support development of treatment protocols and documentation standards
Collaborate with leadership to ensure high-quality service delivery

Availability & Time Commitment

Work a minimum of 20 hours per week (on-site or approved telehealth)
Maintain accurate timekeeping in accordance with organizational policies
Be available for clinical consultation during scheduled hours

QualificationsOption 1: Psychiatrist (Preferred for Medical Director of Record)

Licensed Physician (MD or DO) in Maryland
Board-certified or board-eligible Psychiatrist
Active DEA and CDS licenses
Minimum 3 years of psychiatric clinical experience

Option 2: CRNP-PMH (Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner)

Licensed CRNP-PMH in the State of Maryland
National certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC)
Active DEA and CDS licenses
Minimum 2–3 years of psychiatric clinical experience preferred
Experience in outpatient behavioral health or OMHC setting preferred
Demonstrated experience with:
psychiatric diagnosis and medication management
clinical supervision and consultation
documentation and compliance with Medicaid standards

Note:

CRNP-PMH candidates may serve in a clinical leadership/acting medical director role, in alignment with Maryland regulations.
A psychiatrist may be required to serve as the designated Medical Director of record depending on BHA requirements.

Hourly rate: $55–$75 per hour (based on experience and credentials)
