Overview
Fort Wayne Metals is seeking a highly motivated Project Manager to lead and support facility-related capital projects, infrastructure improvements, building expansions, renovations, and operational improvement initiatives across the organization.
This position serves as a key link between FWM Leadership, Facilities, Engineering, Operations, EHS&S, IT, Maintenance, Finance & Accounting, and external contractors to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within budget. The Project Manager will apply both facilities management and project management principles to support the design, planning, construction, maintenance, and continuous improvement of Fort Wayne Metals' buildings, grounds, utilities, and manufacturing support infrastructure.
The successful candidate will lead assigned projects from initiation through closing, facilitate cross-functional collaboration, collect and analyze information to identify improvement opportunities, and help deliver strategic initiatives that enhance operational performance, employee experience, and business growth.
Education & Experience Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Facilities Management, Business, Project Management, Architecture, or related technical field required.
- Equivalent combinations of education and relevant experience may be considered.

OSHA 30-Hour Construction Training certification required or ability to obtain within a designated time period.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in facilities management, architectural design and project management, construction management, engineering, manufacturing, and/or project management environments

Experience leading capital projects, facility improvement projects, plant infrastructure initiatives, or manufacturing-related projects preferred.

Experience managing contractors, suppliers, consultants, and cross-functional project teams preferred.
Job Responsibilities
-
Support facility expansions, renovations, remodeling projects, and infrastructure improvements throughout Fort Wayne Metals facilities.
- Coordinate building space allocation and layout of manufacturing, warehouse, laboratory, and office areas to optimize utilization and workflow.
- Create and maintain facility drawings, layouts, and site plans utilizing CAD software and other design tools.
- Coordinate utility infrastructure installations, upgrades, modifications, and facility support systems.
- Develop bid packages, solicit contractor proposals, and assist with contractor selection activities.
- Monitor contractor performance, safety compliance, schedules, and quality of work.
- Support facility maintenance initiatives and coordinate activities with internal and external service providers.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, Indiana building codes, fire codes, and company safety standards.
- Assist with security system coordination, contractor access requirements, and emergency response support activities as needed.
- Serve as a liaison between internal stakeholders and external contractors to ensure facility needs are clearly communicated and executed.

Lead assigned capital, facilities, operational improvement, and strategic business projects ensuring they remain on schedule and within approved budgets.
- Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, milestones, resource plans, and project documentation.
- Define project scope, objectives, roles, responsibilities, deliverables, and success criteria.
- Monitor project progress and provide routine status updates to sponsors, stakeholders, and leadership teams.
- Work closely with Plant Managers, Production Coordinators, Engineering, Maintenance, and other functional areas to guide strategically important projects.
- Facilitate project team meetings, issue resolution discussions, and decision-making sessions.

Identify project risks, develop mitigation plans, and proactively address project barriers.

Support change management, communication planning, and stakeholder engagement efforts.

Collect and analyze data to research solutions for improving facilities, processes, systems, and overall operational effectiveness.
- Lead project closeout activities including lessons learned, documentation, and transition to operational ownership.

Lead, manage, support, and contribute to projects that improve product quality, customer responsiveness, operational efficiency, and overall business performance and other corporate projects as needed.
