Job Title: Maintenance Supervisor FLSA Status: Exempt Department: Maintenance
SUMMARY:
The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the maintenance team to ensure optimal performance and efficiency of all equipment and building systems. This role involves hands-on leadership in equipment and system monitoring, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs. The Maintenance Supervisor will play a key role in maintaining production uptime, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and implementing improvements in maintenance processes.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND REPONSIBILITIES:
· Team Supervision & Leadership: Supervise and lead the maintenance team, ensuring proper training, development, and guidance for all mechanics involved in the repair and maintenance of machinery, equipment, and facility systems.
· Preventive Maintenance & Scheduling: Oversee and assign all preventive maintenance work orders, ensuring all tasks are completed on time and aligned with production schedules.
· Work Assignment & Planning: Plan, organize, and delegate maintenance tasks to maximize productivity, effectively utilizing both man-hours and equipment to meet departmental objectives.
· Process Improvement: Analyze operational issues, proactively resolve work-related problems, and assist team members in troubleshooting and solving complex equipment malfunctions.
· Policy Enforcement & Compliance: Interpret and enforce company policies, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and food safety standards. Continuously motivate the team to meet or exceed departmental goals.
· Collaboration: Coordinate with other supervisors and departments to ensure seamless operations and minimal downtime, ensuring alignment between maintenance and production schedules.
· Safety & Risk Management: Promote and enforce safety practices by leading safety initiatives and acting as a role model for safety in the workplace. Ensure compliance with safety regulations and address any hazardous conditions immediately.
· Employee Management: Oversee all aspects of employee management, including hiring, training, performance reviews, disciplinary actions, and conflict resolution in collaboration with HR.
· Reporting & Documentation: Ensure proper documentation of maintenance activities, repairs, and incidents, including required safety and injury reports. Ensure all incidents are reported immediately to Safety Supervisor and HR.
· Flexibility & Availability: Be available to work weekends, overtime, and respond to emergencies on short notice to ensure continuous plant operations.
· Compliance with Regulations: Ensure compliance with food safety, regulatory requirements, and quality systems, ensuring all maintenance activities align with product specifications and company policies.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
· Education: Associate degree in a technical field or a combination of education and relevant work experience.
· Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in maintenance supervision, with hands-on knowledge in the repair, maintenance, and operation of industrial machinery and systems.
· Industry Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of ammonia refrigeration systems, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems, and food industry-specific equipment (preferably meat processing).
· Technical Skills: Strong troubleshooting skills in both electrical and mechanical systems; experience with PLC-controlled systems, programming, and troubleshooting.
· Tools & Equipment: Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and electrical multi-meters.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
· Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with team members, other departments, and management.
· Technical Proficiency: Ability to read and interpret technical documents, blueprints, and schematics.
· Problem-Solving: Ability to resolve complex mechanical and electrical issues, applying strong analytical skills.
· Computer Skills: Proficiency in computer applications, including maintenance management software and basic office tools (Microsoft Office Suite).
· Bilingual: Bilingual skills are a plus, facilitating communication with a diverse workforce.
