Full Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Accountant is responsible for maintaining the day-to-day integrity of the company's accounting records and supporting reliable financial reporting in a manufacturing environment.

This position is responsible for the accuracy, integrity, and timely execution of the company's core accounting processes. The role provides primary responsibility for the monthly financial close, general ledger, inventory accounting, account reconciliations, and key accounting controls that support reliable financial reporting in a manufacturing environment. Working closely with Operations, Purchasing, Sales, and other business functions, the Senior Accountant exercises sound professional judgment, proactively identifies and resolves accounting issues, and helps strengthen accounting processes and internal controls while ensuring financial transactions are recorded accurately and in accordance with company policies and GAAP.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

Financial Close & General Ledger

· Own the monthly and annual financial close process.

· Ensure the completeness and integrity of the company's accounting records through timely reconciliation and review of balance sheet accounts.

· Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and adjusting entries.

· Process accounting period rollovers and module closings.

· Maintain month-end close schedules and supporting documentation.

Inventory & Manufacturing Accounting

· Maintain the integrity of inventory accounting, job costing, and related balance sheet accounts.

· Review manufacturing transactions for proper accounting treatment.

· Monitor inventory movements and job costing for accuracy and completeness.

· Coordinate with Operations for physical inventories and cycle counts.

· Research and resolve inventory discrepancies in partnership with Operations.

· Partner with Operations to support manufacturing cost analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.

Accounting Controls & Transaction Oversight

· Maintain and continuously improve accounting controls over Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, cash management, and other core accounting processes.

· Review key accounting transactions and reconciliations for completeness, accuracy, and appropriate accounting treatment.

· Monitor GRN reconciliation processes and inventory-related transactions.

· Maintain fixed asset records and capital expenditure tracking.

· Ensure compliance with company accounting policies, GAAP, and internal controls.

Financial Reporting & Analysis

· Prepare recurring financial schedules and supporting analyses.

· Assist in preparing monthly financial statements and management reports.

· Provide supporting data for budgeting and forecasting activities.

· Prepare sales commission calculations and other recurring schedules.

· Support special projects and accounting analysis as assigned.

Audit & Compliance

· Assist with external audits by preparing supporting documentation, schedules, reconciliations, and other requested information.

· Maintain organized accounting records and schedules.

· Support tax compliance and financial reporting requirements.

· Recommend and implement process improvements that strengthen accounting controls and reporting efficiency.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.

· Three or more years of progressive accounting experience.

· Experience leading or owning month-end close.

· Experience with inventory accounting and job costing.

· Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting.

· Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

· Strong analytical ability, attention to detail, and professional judgment.

· Demonstrated ownership mindset with the ability to proactively identify, research, resolve, and communicate accounting issues and process improvement opportunities.

· Ability to prioritize competing deadlines while working independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Experience with Syspro or a similar manufacturing ERP system.

· Experience extracting, analyzing, and validating financial data from ERP reporting tools and database queries.

· Experience supporting external audits.

· Experience driving accounting process improvements and strengthening internal controls.
