Job Summary

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Certified Peer Support Specialist to empower individuals on their recovery journey. In this vital role, you will serve as a trusted advocate and mentor, providing peer-led support to those experiencing mental health challenges, substance use disorders, or co-occurring conditions. Your lived experience and compassionate approach will inspire hope, foster resilience, and promote recovery within diverse communities. This paid position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference by sharing personal recovery stories, guiding clients through crisis situations, and encouraging self-advocacy in a supportive environment.

Responsibilities

Provide peer support by sharing personal recovery experiences to motivate and empower clients.
Assist individuals in developing coping skills through motivational interviewing and harm reduction strategies.
Conduct crisis management and intervention to ensure client safety during mental health or substance use crises.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care plans while maintaining strict confidentiality of client information.
Support clients in navigating behavioral health services, including addiction counseling and social work resources.
Engage with culturally diverse communities to promote inclusive, respectful peer advocacy and recovery efforts.
Document interactions accurately within electronic health record (EHR) systems and maintain detailed case notes.

Experience

Demonstrated experience working with individuals with mental health conditions, substance use disorders, or co-occurring disorders.
Proven ability in crisis intervention and crisis management techniques.
Strong background in behavioral health, addiction counseling, or social work preferred.
Experience working with culturally diverse populations and understanding cultural sensitivities.
Skilled in client communication, mentoring, and peer support advocacy.
Familiarity with harm reduction principles, motivational interviewing techniques, and confidentiality protocols.
Prior experience using EHR systems for documentation and case management is highly desirable.
