Full Job Description

Located in historic Fredericksburg, Texas, Altstadt Brewery is a unique destination to enjoy world-class beer, listen to live music, take in a Texas sunset from the Biergarten and savor delicious food all in a Bavarian-inspired environment!

Summary/Objective
The Cook prepares and/or directs the preparation of food to be served, while complying with all applicable sanitation, health, and personal hygiene standards and following established food production programs and procedures. The jobholder ensures appropriate use of facility supplies and equipment to minimize loss, waste, and fraud.

Essential Functions

Preparing or directing preparation of food served using established production procedures and systems
Determining amount and type of food and supplies required using production systems; ensuring availability of supplies and food or approved substitutions in adequate time for preparation; serving or ensuring proper serving of food for tray line or dining room
Complying with established sanitation standards, personal hygiene, and health standards; observing proper food preparation and handling techniques
Storing food properly and safely by marking dates and items
Reporting necessary equipment repair and maintenance
Correctly preparing all food served following standard recipes and special diet orders; portioning food for serving
Planning food production to coordinate with meal serving hours so that excellence, quality, temperature, and appearance of food are preserved
Maintaining daily production records
Keeping work area neat and clean at all times; cleaning and maintaining equipment used in food preparation
Completing food temperature checks before service
Performing other work-related duties as assigned

Competencies

Technical Capacity- Must be able to use all job-related software, systems and tools (e.g. POS, cash register, phone, etc) in order to help out other staff members as needed;

Quality/Detail Orientation- Must uphold consistently high standards to ensure a clean and organized kitchen;
Flexibility- Must be able to effectively multi-task and perform a variety of tasks at once;
Ethical Conduct- Must uphold and enforce the company’s ethical standards and comply with local, state and federal law;
Safety- Must be familiar with and adhere to industry and function-specific federal, state and local health and safety requirements;
Collaboration- Must work well with other departments/functions;
Communication- Must communicate effectively to employees, vendors and customers; Must speak, write and read English at the necessary level to safely and competently perform all job duties.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

The typical hours of work and days may vary, and the jobholder is required to work as scheduled by management. Overtime may be required from time to time at Management’s discretion.

Required Education and Experience

1. Prior experience in related food service positions

Preferred Education and Experience

1. Previous restaurant or cleaning experience

2. Highschool diploma or GED

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

1. Must be 18 years of age or older at the time of application

Work Authorization/Security Clearance

Must be able to legally work in the US without sponsorship
