Full Job Description

Position Overview

We are seeking a reliable and motivated Construction Layout Technician to perform field layout for commercial plumbing and mechanical projects. This role involves using a Trimble Total Station to accurately locate and mark points for underground plumbing, mechanical systems, sleeves, equipment pads, hangers, inserts, and other MEP installations.

Previous experience with Trimble Total Stations is a plus, but not required. We are willing to train the right candidate with a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

Perform construction layout for plumbing and mechanical systems.
Set and mark installation points using a Trimble Total Station.
Transfer dimensions and elevations from construction drawings to the field.
Read and interpret construction documents, shop drawings, and coordination drawings.
Verify layout accuracy before installation begins.
Coordinate with project managers, foremen, and field crews.
Maintain layout equipment and ensure proper operation.
Follow all company safety policies and jobsite requirements.

Required Qualifications

Dependable and self-motivated.
Ability to read and understand construction drawings.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to work outdoors and on active construction sites.
Valid driver's license.
Ability to lift and carry equipment as needed.

Preferred but Not Required

Experience with Trimble Total Stations or other layout equipment.
Construction experience, especially plumbing, piping, HVAC, or mechanical trades.
Knowledge of commercial construction practices.
Experience with BIM or coordinated drawings.
