We're looking for motivated individuals to join our Grinding Department as a Grinder Operator. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on work, problem-solving, and producing precision products. While no previous grinding experience is required, success in this role requires mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, critical thinking, and the ability to understand measurements and basic math and geometry. We provide the training - you bring the willingness to learn.
What You'll Do
- Operate precision grinding equipment to manufacture high-quality specialty cutting blades
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, production packets, and work instructions
- Set up, operate, and safely shut down grinding equipment
- Monitor machine performance and make adjustments to maintain product specifications
- Inspect finished products using precision measuring equipment including micrometers, calipers, gauges, microscopes, and comparators
- Identify quality concerns and troubleshoot minor production issues before escalating when necessary
- Complete production records, quality documentation, and grinding data sheets accurately
- Maintain grinding wheels, hones, strops, fluids, and machine components to support efficient production
- Communicate production status, quality concerns, and equipment needs with supervisors and teammates
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safety-focused work area while supporting continuous improvement initiatives
What We're Looking For
- High school diploma or GED required
- Manufacturing experience is preferred
- Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn
- Ability to read measurements and understand basic math and geometry concepts
- Ability to read and follow standard operating procedures and follow written and verbal work instructions
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Comfortable using precision measuring tools or willing to learn
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work
- Ability to stand for extended periods and safely perform repetitive tasks, including occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds with assistance when needed
- Reliable, team-oriented, safety-focused, and eager to build a long-term career in manufacturing
