About Legacy Construction

Legacy Construction is a full-service commercial general contractor specializing in healthcare, commercial, and community-focused projects throughout California. We are a growing company built on strong relationships, teamwork, accountability, and a commitment to delivering exceptional projects for our clients.

We are seeking a Project Engineer / Safety Coordinator to support both project operations and company safety initiatives. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys a combination of office and field work, is highly organized, and wants to build a long-term career in the construction industry.

Position Summary

The Project Engineer / Safety Coordinator plays a key role in supporting project teams through project coordination, document control, contract administration, safety compliance, training coordination, project reporting, and project closeout activities. This position serves as a link between office and field operations and works closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, clients, architects, consultants, and internal teams.

This position reports directly to the Director of Operations.

What You'll Do

Support construction projects from startup through closeout.
Coordinate RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project documentation.
Maintain project records, logs, and electronic file systems.
Assist with project scheduling, procurement tracking, and project reporting.
Coordinate communication between project teams, subcontractors, vendors, and clients.
Conduct periodic jobsite visits and support field operations.
Assist with administration of the company's safety program and safety documentation.
Coordinate employee safety training, certifications, and onboarding requirements.
Conduct and document jobsite safety observations and inspections.
Assist with incident reporting, corrective action tracking, and PPE management.

Qualifications

Valid driver's license required.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Associate's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
Minimum two years of experience supporting construction projects, project administration, estimating, field operations, document control, or a related role preferred.
OSHA 30 certification preferred or willingness to obtain after hire.
CPR/First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain after hire.
Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new software systems.
