Position: Construction Operations Engineer

Salary: $20.00 - $35.00 per hour

Job Description:

We are seeking a self-driven, highly motivated, and hardworking Project Engineer (PE) with experience in commercial wall construction. The PE will assist in coordinating, scheduling, managing profitability, ensuring job quality, building relationships with general contractors (GCs), purchasing materials, and overseeing job accounting for assigned projects.

Responsibilities:

Review plans and specifications to ensure they are complete and accurate.
Create Excel production tracking sheets to monitor material yield and production per Man-Day.
Set up iPads and required applications for field employees.
Update OneDrive and production sheets.
Assist in verifying timecards and classifying employee scopes of work.
Prepare submissions for materials, LEED compliance, and warranties.
Compile and review unit lists (ULs), statements of values (SOVs), and project durations.
Draft Requests for Information (RFIs), prepare plans, and track Architectural Supplemental Instructions (ASIs) and RFIs for office and field coordination.
Oversee Autodesk plans, manage project documentation, and prepare “as-built” drawings or shop drawings.
Track cost performance according to cost codes and enter vendor quotes into the ERP system.
Support pricing for change orders, project negotiations, and bids.
Adapt project procedures as they vary from one job to another.
Conduct site visits and attend meetings to gather trade-specific requirements.
Maintain look-ahead schedules to facilitate coordination between project managers (PMs) and the field.
Assist in job close-out processes.
Administer scaffold agreements and subcontracts, tracking them effectively.
Promote Tarlton’s Frame-to-Finish brand, teamwork, and culture.

Qualifications:

Proficient in math, information technology (IT), Building Information Modeling (BIM), Bluebeam, Autodesk, or similar scheduling software.
Highly skilled in Excel and Microsoft Office.
Ability to create spreadsheets with formulas to track material usage, labor percentages, yield, and production per Man-Day.
Knowledge of iOS/iPad troubleshooting.
Understanding of basic construction techniques and processes.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints in both PDF and hard copy formats.
Highly organized, proactive, and self-motivated with strong problem-solving skills.
Effective communication with various stakeholders.
Strong sense of urgency with a “Whatever it takes” attitude.
Working towards a degree in construction management or possessing relevant work experience.
