Full Job Description

APR Consulting, Inc. has been engaged to identify a Provider Coordinator

Location: Coon Rapids, MN 55433
Position: Provider Coordinator
Pay Rate: $27/hr
Duration: 13 weeks
Expected Shift: 40 hrs/week
Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm

IMPORTANT CALL OUTS
Strong Epic experience required
Oncology or infusion scheduling experience highly preferred
Experience managing complex provider scheduling workflows preferred
Opportunity for contract extension based on department needs
Position is supporting the Allina Health Cancer Institute while covering employee leaves of absence and onboarding/training new staff
No regularly scheduled weekends (occasional weekend support may be offered if additional coverage is needed)

MANAGER'S IDEAL CANDIDATE:
Strong recent Epic experience
Oncology or infusion scheduling experience
Experience coordinating complex provider scheduling in a busy specialty clinic
Excellent customer service, communication, and organizational skills
Able to work independently in a fast-paced oncology environment

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education
High School Diploma or GED required
Post-secondary education in a medical field preferred
Experience
2–5 years of experience in a medical office, healthcare scheduling, patient access, provider coordination, or healthcare administrative support role required
Strong Epic experience required
Experience scheduling patient appointments, procedures, diagnostic testing, infusion appointments, or provider schedules in a healthcare setting required
Experience working with electronic medical record (EMR/EHR) systems required
Experience providing administrative support and customer service in a healthcare environment required
Experience supporting providers, clinics, or patient scheduling workflows required

CERTIFICATIONS:
None required

TECHNICAL SKILLS:
Epic proficiency required
Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems required
Microsoft Office Suite proficiency required

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Strong organizational and multitasking skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced healthcare environment
Excellent communication and customer service skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Previous Allina Health experience preferred
Previous Provider Coordinator experience preferred
Oncology or infusion scheduling experience highly preferred
Patient-facing healthcare experience preferred
Insurance verification and prior authorization experience preferred
Experience managing referral, insurance, or scheduling work queues preferred
Experience obtaining, reviewing, and managing medical records preferred
Experience supporting multiple providers and managing complex scheduling workflows preferred

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Schedule and coordinate patient appointments, infusion treatments, procedures, diagnostic tests, surgeries, hospital admissions, and related services across multiple providers
Maintain and communicate provider schedules and calendars while documenting scheduling activities within Epic
Verify insurance coverage and obtain prior authorizations as needed
Support scheduling workflows and administrative coordination activities
Manage referral, insurance, and scheduling work queues to ensure timely follow-up and resolution
Provide telephone coverage and route messages appropriately
Assist with department administrative support, patient registration, records management, and reporting requirements
Prepare patient charts by reviewing records, obtaining outside documentation, and ensuring information is accurately scanned and indexed into the electronic medical record
Coordinate interpreter services as needed
Maintain department records, manuals, and patient education materials
Participate in patient data reporting requirements and compliance with regulatory standards
Assist with training materials and onboarding support for new and current employees as needed
Support physician reimbursement, credentialing, charge capture, and medical record processes as assigned
Perform additional administrative and operational duties as assigned
