Full Job Description

Maintaining security and control of Deaf Smith County Jail in Hereford, Texas as a Jailer/Corrections Officer. Must be able to work around inmates, and follow rules and regulations. Starting pay: $48,169.25

Level 2 pay upon completion of training period and receiving state licensing: $50,193.33

Certificate Pay: (Additional Pay)

Basic Jailer- $2,000 a year in addition to salary (Acquired by all staff after 1 year of employment)
Intermediate Jailer- $3,000 a year in addition to salary
Advanced Jailer- $4,000 a year in addition to salary
Master Jailer- $5,000 a year in addition to salary

Uniform Allowance: $2,160 a year ($90 a paycheck)

Qualifications

Must be at least 18.
Be a U.S. citizen
Be of good moral character.
Be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
Be able to work the hours required of shift work.
Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
Possess a valid Texas driver's license with good driving history.
No Felony or Class "A" Misdemeanor convictions on Criminal History.
No Class "B" convictions in the past 10 years on Criminal History.
Must be willing to work overtime if the need arises.
