Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) to lead our pharmacy operations with enthusiasm and expertise. In this vital role, you will oversee daily pharmacy functions, ensure compliance with regulatory standards, and deliver exceptional patient care. Your leadership will foster a collaborative environment focused on safety, accuracy, and outstanding service. The ideal candidate is energetic, detail-oriented, and passionate about advancing clinical pharmacy practices to improve patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

Manage all pharmacy activities, ensuring adherence to federal and state regulations, including HIPAA and pharmacy laws.
Supervise pharmacy staff, including pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, providing guidance and support to maintain high performance standards.
Oversee medication dispensing processes, including compounding medications and preparing IV infusions with aseptic technique.
Conduct patient assessments to determine appropriate medication therapy, including immunizations and pain management strategies.
Utilize pharmacy software, EMR (Electronic Medical Records), and EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems for accurate prescription processing and documentation.
Maintain inventory management by monitoring stock levels, ordering medications, and ensuring proper storage conditions for pharmaceuticals.
Ensure compliance with safety protocols such as medication administration procedures, IV insertion techniques, and physiology knowledge to optimize patient care.
Lead efforts in medical management initiatives, collaborating with healthcare teams to develop comprehensive treatment plans for diverse patient populations including pediatrics and those in critical care or LTC (Long-Term Care) settings.
Uphold patient service excellence by providing clear medication counseling, patient education on drug interactions, and ensuring a positive pharmacy experience.

Qualifications

Valid pharmacist license with current registration in the applicable jurisdiction.
Proven experience in LTC pharmacy, critical care settings, or hospital environments is highly preferred.
Completion of a pharmacy residency program demonstrating advanced clinical training.
Strong background in clinical pharmacy practice with knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and acute care protocols.
Experience with pharmacy software systems, EMR/EHR platforms, and inventory management tools.
Demonstrated ability in compounding medications safely using aseptic techniques; experience with IV infusion preparation is advantageous.
Knowledge of immunizations administration and medication management strategies across diverse patient populations including pediatrics.
Excellent patient assessment skills combined with effective communication for patient service delivery.
Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality at all times.
Prior hospital or acute care experience is desirable; previous pharmacy technician experience is a plus for understanding workflow dynamics.
