Full Job Description

Thirst Bookkeeper

Location: Salt Lake City, UT

Job Type: Full-Time

Schedule: Monday–Friday | 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

About Thirst

Thirst is one of Utah's fastest-growing specialty beverage brands, with multiple corporate-owned and franchise locations, a production kitchen, a catering division, and new stores opening every year.

We're looking for a highly organized, detail-oriented Bookkeeper / Staff Accountant to join our team and help build the financial systems that support our growth.

Important Expectations

This is a fully in-office position located in Salt Lake City.

You will work Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM in our office. This is not a remote or hybrid position.

The majority of your day will be spent upstairs in our office managing the company's accounting and bookkeeping. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys detailed, process-driven work and takes pride in maintaining accurate financial records. While this isn't a flashy finance role, it is a critical position that directly supports the growth of our company.

As Thirst continues to grow, this position will grow with it. The right candidate will have opportunities to take on additional responsibilities and advance into senior accounting, finance, and operational leadership roles.

We will provide extensive training and resources to ensure success in this role.

Daily Responsibilities

Every workday, your primary responsibility is keeping our books current and accurate.

Responsibilities include:

Categorize and match every transaction across every company bank account and credit card account.
Record vendor bills and expenses accurately.
Investigate and resolve unmatched or unclear transactions.
Follow up on missing receipts or supporting documentation.
Maintain accurate financial records in QuickBooks.
Ensure deposits, transfers, and payments are recorded correctly.
Keep accounting records organized and up to date.

Weekly Responsibilities

Record all catering revenue using the weekly catering reports.
Create one journal entry for every individual catering event.
Properly identify tax-exempt catering events.
Record all production kitchen revenue using invoices provided by the production team.
Record internal store orders, airport orders, and wholesale customer sales.
Reconcile bank and credit card accounts.
Review transactions for coding accuracy.
Identify and resolve discrepancies before month-end.

Monthly ResponsibilitiesRevenue Recognition

Record monthly retail store revenue for every location, including:
Toast POS sales
DoorDash
Uber Eats
Grubhub
Fundraiser sales
Record corporate revenue including:
Management fees
Royalty income

Financial Review

Review every store's Profit & Loss statement to verify:

Cost of Goods Sold
Payroll
Merchant processing fees
Third-party delivery fees
Rent
Utilities
Equipment rental
Software subscriptions
Internet
CO₂
Linen service
Repair & maintenance
Supplies

Investigate missing expenses and unusual variances.

Inventory & Cost of Goods

Record monthly inventory adjustments.
Reconcile inventory to Cost of Goods Sold.
Review vendor invoices for accuracy.

Corporate Expense Allocation

Allocate corporate-paid expenses to the appropriate store locations.
Ensure corporate financial statements contain only corporate expenses.

Franchise Reconciliations

Prepare monthly reconciliation reports for externally owned stores including:

Production orders
Management fees
Corporate-paid expenses

Month-End Close

Prepare monthly financial statements including:

Profit & Loss Statements
Balance Sheets
Bank reconciliations

Meet monthly close deadlines for both corporate and franchise locations.

Qualifications

Experience with QuickBooks Online required.
Previous bookkeeping or accounting experience required.
Strong understanding of accounting principles.
Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail.
Strong Excel and/or Google Sheets skills.
Able to manage multiple companies and locations simultaneously.
Excellent time management and follow-through.
Self-motivated and dependable.

Financial records are accurate and current.
Bank and credit card accounts are reconciled on schedule.
Month-end close is completed accurately and on time.
Leadership can rely on accurate financial reporting.
Accounting systems continue to improve as the company grows.
