Full Job Description

NewLife for Women currently has Full-Time and Weekend Program Aide positions available.

At NewLife for Women, our mission is to provide counseling and guidance to women addicted to drugs or alcohol, to identify and address the circumstances which lead to their addiction and to help them to restore their self-respect and sense of self-worth. We are a faith-based program and are currently seeking motivated para-professionals to fill both permanent and fill-in/as needed positions. This is a great opportunity for students who are studying nursing, social work, psychology, human services or criminal justice to learn about substance use disorders and treatment or for anyone who is interested in positively impacting the lives of others.

Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED, a valid Alabama Driver’s License and good driving record; able to pass all pre-employment screenings; able to work independently and with others; highly responsible & committed to the agency's mission.

Responsibilities include:

-Supervise or assists participants with daily living activities, educational activities and social and leisure activities.

-Maintain the safety, welfare and rights of the participants at all times.

-Ensure the participants are protected from abuse, mistreatment and neglect.

-Provide and ensure that participants confidentiality is protected at all times.

-Accurately chart and record medication dispensation.

-Keep daily progress notes on significant participants activities occurring during assigned hours or as reported by other staff.

-Perform all job duties in accordance with agency policy and Alabama Department of Mental Health standards.

-Appropriately handle disruptive behavior and aggressive behavior in accordance with policies and procedures.

-Maintain and provide care of the facility to keep it in the best condition.

-Transports participants to educational, vocational and religious activities.

-Assist in maintaining the cleanliness of the facility and facility grounds.

-Attends all required training, staff meetings and consultations as required.

-Performs other duties as assigned.
