Full Job Description

Job Description: Accountant/Auditor
Duration: Minimum six (6) months, with option to extend
Schedule: 40 hours per week
Location: Onsite role — candidate must be able to work on-site at the client's facilities when required by their supervisor. Remote work may only be permitted with advance approval from the on-site supervisor; on-site presence is mandatory whenever requested.

Position Summary

We are seeking one or more contract Accountant/Auditor professionals to support the Treasury division of a government finance department. This role performs professional accounting and auditing functions, working closely with internal staff to support financial operations and facilitate knowledge transfer.

Key Responsibilities

Apply generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) for governmental accounting, with strong knowledge of GASB and/or FASB standards and statements
Prepare analyses of financial reports and provide recommendations based on findings
Perform analysis of assigned funds and sub-funds
Perform complex reconciliations across various General Ledger accounts within an Oracle ERP environment
Prepare supporting work papers for adjusting journal entries
Maintain thorough documentation of all accounting/auditing activities performed
Work side-by-side with internal staff to support ongoing knowledge transfer
Report directly to the Treasury Accounting Supervisor

Required Qualifications

Strong working knowledge of governmental accounting principles, including GASB and/or FASB standards
Proficiency with Oracle ERP accounting systems and Microsoft Excel
Experience with complex reconciliations across multiple/integrated accounting systems
Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines
Experience with financial statement preparation
Prior professional experience as an accountant or auditor

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of MUNIS, Crystal Reports, and BI (Business Intelligence) tools
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field from an accredited college or university
Relevant professional credentials or certifications (documentation/evidence of any claimed credential or certification must be provided)

Pay: From $45.00 per hour
