Full Job Description

Mariners Express LLC is looking for Marine Technicians with experience in Mercury, Volvo Penta, Yamaha and other brands. We are also looking for a qualified Service Advisor. You may apply for either position here.

Marine Technician Responsibilities:

Performing all types of marine repair jobs including but not limited to basic maintenance (oil changes, filter changes, anode replacement, etc) to major repairs (engine overhauls, lower unit rebuilds, outboard replacement). Winterizations and activations, shrink-wrapping, and building frames. Repairing AC/DC electrical, plumbing fresh/grey/black water systems. Trailer lighting, bunks, lifting watercraft and repositioning etc. Technicians will also be trained on a loader.

Caring for company tools and equipment.

Assisting front staff with estimates to customers and ordering parts.

Providing excellent customer service experience by explaining answers to any questions specific to the mechanic.

Marine Technician Pay and Perks:

Apprentice Technician: $16-$22 per hour

Journeyman Technician: $23-$30 per hour

Shop Foreman: Starts at $83,200 per year plus efficiency bonus

All technician positions are eligible for retirement plans, health, dental and vision for self and dependents after 3-months of service. Technicians have access to company owned watercraft for personal use.

Marine Technician Requirements:

Apprentice: 0-2 years’ experience (Needs heavy training and book time)

Journeyman: 3 plus years’ experience and/or brand certifications (Needs little training and book time)

Shop Forman: 10 plus years’ experience and master certified in at least one brand (Can train, support, and advise all other technicians)

Must be able to work in the U.S.

Must have valid driver’s license with no DUI/reckless driving convictions within the last 10 years.

Any certifications in applicable trades or brand certifications in any marine power will get you more $$$. Paid experience gets you more $$$. Having your own tools gets you more $$$.

Service Advisor Responsibilities:

Communicate with all staff and customers to execute repair orders in a timely fashion. Controls customer expectations. Builds estimates using shop resources for time and parts. Coordinates job timing with parts arrival, boat arrivals, boat locations, technician availability, etc. Orders parts using an order sheet. Takes all calls, texts messages and email leads. Follows up on invoicing and customer retention. Uses POS for store sales, keeps store area clean and provides customer service.

Service Advisor Pay and Perks:

Pay DOE $18-$29 per hour plus sales bonus. Eligible for retirement plan, health, dental and vision benefits for self and dependents after 3 months of service. Advisor has access to company owned watercraft for personal use.

Service Advisor Requirements:

Must have at least 4 years of experience in customer service and/or service writing. Must be able to use a computer fluently. Must have good attention to detail.
