Full Job Description

InterAct is dedicated to ending the cycle of domestic and sexual violence in Wake County, Interact saves lives, rebuilds lives, and secures safer futures for our clients and their families. Every staff member plays a vital role in fulfilling this mission.

The Community Engagement and Development Coordinator (CEDC) support InterAct’s mission by increasing community awareness of our services and assisting the development team with gift processing, donor database management, preparing letters of acknowledgment, coordinating events from planning through implementation, and conducting research on current and prospective donors.

In addition, the CEDC builds and maintains relationships with civic organizations, businesses, public agencies, hospitals, and local universities. Working collaboratively with development and program staff, the coordinator helps plan and execute presentations, events, and community-based initiatives that strengthen engagement and support for our organization.

Responsibilities

Community Engagement & Outreach

Receive, coordinate, and respond to community requests for presentations, tabling events, and outreach activities.
Plan and coordinate InterAct’s participation in community events and ensure appropriate staffing and materials.
Maintain outreach materials, awareness items, and giveaways for distribution at events.
Attend and deliver presentations as required.
Coordinate group volunteer projects and agency tours, serving as the primary point of contact for participating organizations.
Provide tours to visitors, when appropriate and allowable.
Lead and coordinate Courageous Voices tours, in-kind donation drives, and pantry projects.
Collect and record community engagement data in Empower and Salesforce, as appropriate.
Conduct follow-up with community partners to encourage ongoing engagement, donations, and collaboration.
Collaborate with development and program staff to plan and support major awareness and engagement initiatives, including:
- Sexual Assault Awareness Month (April)
- Domestic Violence Awareness Month (October)
- Annual Holiday Bazaar benefiting survivors (December)
- Volunteer Appreciation activities (April)
Assist with additional development campaigns and special projects as requested, including survivor story collection, managing the information email inbox, and collaborating with the Communications Manager on social media and electronic publications.

Development Operations & Donor Services

Process and record donations, including daily check deposits and preparation of weekly Deposit Detail reports.
Learn and manage InterAct’s donation platforms in coordination with development staff.
Maintain accurate donor records, grant invoices, and in-kind donation documentation in Salesforce.
Assist with preparation of monthly In-Kind reports.
Manage donor gift acknowledgments in coordination with the Chief Development Officer.
Oversee matching gift documentation and redemption processes.
Track outstanding pledges and send pledge reminders in consultation with the CDO.
Generate and respond to Salesforce reporting requests from development staff.
Coordinate with Finance to ensure all gifts and payments are properly reconciled.

Assist with preparation and distribution of year-end tax statements in collaboration with the CDO and finance staff.

Event Administration

Support event planning and implementation, including registration, ticket sales, RSVPs, and donation tracking.
Manage in-kind donations and post-event gift processing.
Complete data entry, acknowledgments, and follow-up communications related to events.
Assist with research on current and prospective donors as needed.

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience motivating and engaging volunteers in a nonprofit environment.
Experience coordinating volunteers, projects, and events.
Ability to represent the agency professionally in diverse community settings, consistent with InterAct’s mission and values.
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
Self-motivated with demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to set goals, resolve conflict, and build consensus.
Ability to network effectively with community members and professionals from diverse backgrounds.
Demonstrated empathy and a non-judgmental approach when interacting with survivors, volunteers, donors, and community members.
Experience with nonprofit CRM databases (Salesforce preferred) and familiarity with donation platforms.
Familiarity with basic accounting and business processes.
Training or public speaking experience.Ability to pass a criminal background check in accordance with InterAct's standard.
