Crisis Center, Inc. has been a dedicated provider of vital mental health and child welfare services for over 50 years. Recognized for its commitment to excellence, the organization offers a wide range of programs including crisis intervention, residential care, and youth support services, all aimed at fostering safety and well-being in the community.

Job Summary
Provide compassionate crisis intervention and emotional support to individuals contacting the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline through calls, texts, and chats. Conduct risk and safety assessments, de-escalate crisis situations, provide suicide prevention support, connect individuals with community resources, and maintain accurate documentation. Utilize multiple web-based platforms and collaborate with team members to deliver timely, person-centered crisis care in a remote work environment.

Key Responsibilities

The 988 Crisis Specialist shall be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

Respond to and manage incoming 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline calls, texts, and chats, providing compassionate, person-centered crisis support.
Conduct crisis, risk, and safety assessments to identify immediate needs and appropriate interventions.
Provide emotional support, crisis intervention, supportive advocacy, and strengths-based guidance.
Connect individuals with appropriate community resources and referrals, utilizing warm handoffs whenever possible.
Assist individuals with safety planning and exploring available options to support their well-being.
Accurately collect demographic information and maintain detailed, timely documentation of all interactions.
Adhere to all organizational, state, and 988 Lifeline policies, procedures, and confidentiality standards.
Maintain professionalism while safeguarding the privacy and confidentiality of 988 contacts and colleagues.
Utilize multiple technology platforms simultaneously to manage communications, documentation, and resource navigation.
Participate in ongoing training, professional development, and team collaboration activities.
Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned to support program and organizational goals.
Remain flexible and responsive to evolving program needs.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.
Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Human Services, Social Work, Counseling, or a related field preferred.
Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Ability to effectively work remote.

Preferred Skills and Competencies

Experience providing crisis intervention, emotional support, suicide prevention, or behavioral health services is preferred.
Proficient in navigating computers, web-based platforms, and multiple technology systems simultaneously.
Self-motivated and able to work independently in a remote/home-based environment.
Demonstrates strong self-awareness, self-care practices, and emotional resilience.
Able to maintain composure and exercise effective self-regulation when handling emotionally challenging or trauma-related situations.
Strong active listening, communication, and multitasking skills while remaining attentive to individuals in crisis.
Adaptable and able to quickly learn and implement new policies, procedures, and technologies.
Skilled in crisis intervention, suicide risk assessment, de-escalation, problem-solving, and safety planning.
Committed to providing compassionate, strengths-based, and person-centered support to diverse populations.

Work Environment

This position is remote: minimum home office and internet speed requirements need to be met.
Schedule agreed upon hire, subject to change.
Full-time: minimum of 40 hours a week

Midnights (12am-8am)
Evenings (4pm-12am)
10-hour & 8-hour shifts available

Pay: $22.50 per hour
